What Color Type Are My Amerucanas?

I ordered a mix of different breeds of pullets that I chose myself. Two of them are amarucanas, but I didn’t chose the colors, can someone help me figure out what colors they are? Thwy’re 3 weeks old

This is a great place for chicken information! The hatchery likely called Easter Eggers (mixed lineage chickens that typically lay blue or green eggs) Ameraucanas. It happens quite frequently but it's not actually "correct".

Easter Eggers are awesome because they come in pretty much any color combination, pattern, leg color, beard/muff combo that exists. Fun to have around and they're solid producers of large eggs.

True Amercaucana come in only a handful of colors and are bred to a specific standard.

So you likely have Easter Eggers- referred to as EEs on this site! The brownish one will likely have 'quail' pattern, and the light one may be splash or have some lacing. That's the great thing about EEs!!!!

It does turn out they’re EEs. The hatchery either made a mistake of, or purposefully listed their Easter Eggers as Amerucanas (I ordered from MT Healthy) they need to fix the mistake so others do not get mislead by this, and many people are asking to have them fix it. I personally wish I had gotten Amarucanas like I ordered, but I have already fallen in love with my two littles and I wouldn’t want to take them away from the rest of the flock or each other. This might be a good thing because I wanted EEs in the first place but when I found out they sold Amerucanas I was sold on them. Again, I’m disappointed but I don’t feel like getting a refund.

EEs are amazing birds and they may just be as great as full bred Ameraucanas. They are normally more docile, less agressive, they lay beautiful eggs, they have beautiful coloring, and they are just amazing birds in general.

Hatcheries shouldn’t sell EEs as Ameraucanas, I agree. But if people didn’t get introduced to Easter eggers then they wouldn’t be known as such a wonderful hybrid they are known as today.

Yes I’m pretty glad I got EEs in the end, since I wanted them in the first place. The hatchery claimed to be selling Amerucanas and Didn’t even think to read their description of the bird since I had done my research. It turns out they said “Amerucanas, also known as Easter Eggers...” which is a clear mark that they won’t be selling you what they say. I noticed immediately when they started getting their feathers in, they didn’t look like any type of Amerucana chick I had seen so I posted this. I did notice the dark one resembled a EE but I assumed it was only because EEs are bred from Amarucanas. Of course I found out the hatchery played that trick on my, I’m disappointed I’m not guaranteed blue eggs but glad i ended up with what I had wanted in the first place (these aren’t my first birds btw so as the third flock to live in the brooder, I’m planning to introduce them to the big birds when they’re older, separated by a pen)

Fingers crossed for blue eggs, although a soft green egg wouldn't be too shabby!
