What color/variety would you say this chick is?

Hello everyone! This is my first pet coturnix quail, so I am very new to this. It is one week old now - give or take a day - and I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what color/variety it would be considered. I've looked at many different photos but my amateur eye can't seem to pick one that really matches my bird. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

My guess would be Tibetan, but I don't know, the darkest colored chicks I have hatched are just the standard browns, and they look like a dark chipmunk color. Your's is obviously much darker. I think it will be beautiful when it gets bigger.

Are you certain though that it is a Coturnix and not a bobwhite? It's beak looks shorter than my Coturnix's beaks.

Keep us posted on how it grows even if you don't get an answer just yet. Quail are so fun to watch grow up. They grow so FAST.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking Tibetan as well, but the yellow over the eyes and under the beak threw me off. I believe it is coturnix. At least, that's what I was told. When I bought it it was with other chicks that were definitely Pharaoh color, Tuxedos, and some that were all yellow.

It's a coturnix. that color pattern over the eyes is pretty specific to tibetan/rosetta chicks.

correct! The only ways to sex tibetans are by either watching one crow, proving it lays an egg, or vent sexing
