What colour is this chick and what will it look like?

Could just be a barnyard mix. Especially, if they were hatched in a school. I wouldn't want to give away my best breeder's chick to a bunch of kids.

Yes I think he could be I was really just wondering about the colouring. Maybe this is a stupid question, but could he end up looking like the light Sussexes once he loses these ‘camouflage’ feathers?

it all depends on what the mix is. You'll get more of an idea by the time he's about 6-8 weeks.

Sorry for asking loads of questions, but noticed this chick has a very fluffy sort of tail. I’m quite new to raising chicks, but I haven’t seen it before. Will it look different when he’s older or will it grow normally later on?

Questions are good! You can't learn if you don't ask questions!!!!

I hate to say, but it depends on his mix. Some chickens have fluffier bums than others... I can't wait for more adult feathers to come in so we can figure out what he is!

Thanks 4 the help. I’m gonna keep this little guy, even though he’s a roo, he’s sweet. I’ll post more pictures when he’s older. We’ve never had bantams before though, might he get bullied by the other chickens? (He will most likely be in an all rooster flock.)

Hi everyone, here’s an update on little Gru, he’s now 7 weeks old. Turns out there was no need for me to worry about him being bullied, he’s the leader of his little flock .His colouring hasn’t changed much, so I guess he will always look like this? He is a mix, but if anyone has any idea of what he might be crossed with I would like to know, as I have never had a chicken with his colouring before. Thanks .
