What colour is this chick?

I had this chick hatch today , and another just like it . What colour would it be considered ? Blue ?

My flock is all Polish , consisting of WC black rooster over WC black hens, a gold laced hen , black crested white hens, and then two pullets not yet laying (WC cuckoo and Black) .

This is the first time I’ve hatched this colour from my flock. I mostly get pure WC black chicks and almost all black chicks with only tiny bits of white colour leakage.

I guess a blue or just a grey/silver. I can't really give you a 100% correct answer because I've never owned these breeds. I just figured I might be able to give a better idea on what he might be ?

If those are all the possible parents, then the chick is not blue.

Blue is caused by a dominant gene. Since all of your chickens show actual black, not blue, there is no way any of them can have the blue gene.

(Technical details: blue is incompletely dominant. One copy of the gene turns black to blue and two copies of the gene turn black to splash. A white chicken can be genetically blue or splash, but you don't see the effect because it's white. None of those apply in this case.)

I set 36 eggs recently, 34 hatched, not from my birds mystery blue eggs, and some pink....all were black or chipmunk, and one looked like this!

I am thinking you must have a blue in your bunch of Polish, as that color appears to be blue not black. I’m not sure what other color it could be—can you share pics of your parent stock? Wondering if you have WC blues? Or blue crested whites? Or some combo like that? As @NatJ stated if you have all those Polish colors, you shouldn’t get blue…but maybe I am wrong!

I agree. Those chickens look blue, which should not be possible from the listed colors of parents. So maybe one of the parents is a very dark blue, pretending to be black?

If there are any other roosters and hens available, maybe one sneaked into the wrong pen and mated with someone else? Or maybe a few eggs got put in the wrong basket?

Parent stock.
Please note , the wc cuckoo was not laying at the time. She lays a very unique egg and I’m 100% sure she wasn’t laying yet. The self black also is not laying yet , and she has gold laced under the black.
