What colour/markings are these quail chicks?

How do you tell the gender of quail?

Depends on the species. For japanese quails, some colours can be feather sexed, others need to be vent sexed.

Thanks!
That will be good to have, in case we would ever get some, but chances are bleak...
But maybe It will help some who needs it!

I’ve only had 1 solid color bird develop white eyebrows, unfortunately they usually seem to fade when the yellow fluff gets replaced. Yours has some tux it seems, so it’s totally possible to develop a sort of masked look, which Ive found is more common than just eyebrows in my birds.

statistically overall, red chicks have a higher chance of being female because a female only needs one copy of the gene to be red, while a male needs 2. Do you know what the parents of the chicks looked like?

Oh that's interesting and good to hear! I'm really hoping for hens... I bought the eggs from ebay, the listing showed one scarlet tux adult and it looked more like the whiter chick.
Your hen is really lovely, I like the subtle white eyebrows. :)
