I know what you mean! They are funny little things. The only way I can keep hold of one is to do the 'parakeet' hold (to stop the parakeet from biting you), with their head between my fingers. That's if I can catch one. Yet my ones out in the aviary will come up and peck my feet and I've got to look down so I don't stand on anyone. Plus they are always trying to sneak out the door! Thank goodness for the safety door.
Our little one who was all alone finally had a friend hatch. It's turned out to be a girl and is still pretty good about being held. I've ended up hand rearing some finch chicks so I've barely had enough time to stick my head in and say hello to the poor little thing lately. Birds - there's never a dull moment when you have birds!
