What could cause the wound?

I had 2 baby chickens and 4 laying hens. They were separated. Today the baby chickens escaped and when I found them, only one was there with wounded leg. The other is missing. Does the wound seem to be pecked by hens or other predators? and do I need to take some care to this or just let it cure? The baby chicken is about 3 weeks old. The hens are fine there. Thank you!

When you say they escaped where did they escape to? A chicken run? The great outdoors? The injury doesn’t appear to be from pecking and if the other pullet is missing it was likely eaten by whatever injured this one. What kinds of predators do you have where you are?

So they were kept in my lanai. It escaped to my backyard. I am in central florida and used to have raccoons eaten one chicken. Today I see no raccoons. if the raccoon is coming, I could hear hens alarming, but I did not. All I can think may be hawk, snake, squirrel?

I lost a five week old to a cat this year. Could be that as well. Hard to tell from the wound. Do you have some antibiotic ointment to keep on it?
