Well... I wasn't sure where to put this topic. So it is here. lol

I work at an animal shelter that only deals with dogs and cats. We get a lot of calls about other animals but we cannot take them.
Today, a woman called in about these creatures that showed up at her house. She could hardly describe them. She said, they look like a cross between a chicken and a duck. Their bodies are black and white but their heads are red. They showed up last week and they aren't scared of anything. They walk right up to the dogs and they eat out of her hands. Her husband said that she couldn't keep them and she was doing her best to rehome them. Me, being who I am, agreed to take them. She's bringing the two critters in on Saturday. I'm looking forward to see what they are. Any ideas? Kind of sounds like a Muscovy but I don't know where the chicken part would play into that. Humm...

Can you post photos? Your description sounds like guinea fowl.

That crossed my mind as well.

I'll let you know when and if they bring the birds in. I've had a guinea in the past and it was not the best or most friendly pet.
