Well now that was all taken care of LOL myself I don't think it was coyotes we know darn well that it's not a wolf. So like I said I would be more out to say raccoons they do and have been known to run in five or more together especially a family.

Not exactly. More like, "can remove/drive off 30 chickens in a single night," There is evidence that at least one chicken was bleeding, but not that all birds were consumed (they definitely weren't consumed on the spot; I've seen that, and it's a very messy business)

let Us say that a family of raccoons scared the chickens. could they eat 30? and if not,would the hens come home? 6 years ago I had a family of raccoons that scared my hens and until I took care of the raccoons. they roosted in the pine tree farm next to my house. would you come home if some things was there waiting on you? Where would you go?

The possibility exists that the scat has nothing to do with the predator that got your chickens.

That's a possibility, but the scat was only about 3 ft from a feather pile. It was fresh and not frozen yet even though the ground was. the blood was fresh, bright and still wet too.

If I had to bet, some of them are there somewhere. I would look to weather chickens can eat kudzu? they have water and safety. what they need is food. Have you tried calling them and throwing out some grain?

Once they get spooked it can take while to feel safe again.
