The one on the right might have an early case as well. Usually it can be the one with the perfect feathers that is doing the pecking. Pine tar rubbed on the area every day or two may be helpful in preventing this, and you can find it in the horse supplies at most feed stores. An alternative would be Nustock Cream. Both smell and taste undesirable to the chickens.

Thank you so much... this group had some really weird feathers going on in the beginning too.. so when I saw this awhile back I just thought that’s the way they were... here’s pics of the weird tail feathers.. those fell out and new ones grew in ..

Yes ma'am. If it were mites at 6 wks w them there ud see them on everyone and everything so i revoke that thought pattern

Okay, good... but how do I get them to stop pecking?
And it’s raining now.. and they sleep on a corner roost.. do you think they will move if they are getting wet? The entire run is covered but the sides are wire sooo...

No i dont think they will move Off the roost because theyre getting wet. That pine tar is highly reccomend accross the site. I havent had to use it though. Generally i see that stuff around here when its time to move chicks to a bigger pen and that solves it but i know you have the beautiful coop and run. Glad to hear theyre getting out now! You may have a bully who space cant help, she just continues to cause trouble. It happens.

very welcome, yes ma'am. Maybe u could add some of the plastic they use on green houses in that spot since they dont wanna be in the coop? Could be good long term anyway for blowing rain and wouldnt block ur veiw like that

I can say that I haven’t had any success with rooster booster no pick stuff... I’d say try the pine tar... the only hens I have with a similar issue are “favorites” of my rooster I’ve ordered in a hen saddle for one
