I looked up Cochin chicks on several different sites... I found something interesting!
here's my verdict:
McMurray Hatchery has a picture of a chick that is the very likeness of my chick - a MOTTLED COCHIN

Mixed with Silkie, this should make for an interesting-ly feathered little critter!
THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO PROVIDED SUGGESTIONS! I will keep you all informed on this little thing's growth with pictures.

Mutt. If it has a vault, could still be silkie cross. The trait originally came from Polish. Perhaps it is a polish cross?
