Hi, I found this bird in the backyard of our rental property in a residential neighborhood. I assumed out was an escaped juvenile chick. I brought it home and built a small coop for it, but when I went to the feed store to buy it a friend, I discovered it looks nothing like the other chicks. It has a smaller head and beak and plumage that chicks not much smaller didn't have. It scratches and pecks like a chicken, though. I'll post a pic after I read how.

Okay, so I'm a new member and can't post pics yet. It is about the size of a dove, but buff colored and has no tail. Any ideas? I've Googled images of all sorts of birds and nothing really seems to fit...

Go on and say hi to a few new members till you get ten posts and then you can put up a pick, thats what I did when I was new. Not sure without a pic if anyone can give you idea.

Maybe a guinea keet?

Smaller head than a guinea keet. But a dutch bantam looks close...

Thanks for thre tipson posts. I'll go get on that!

Whatever this is, out prefers a ground nest rather than the box I made it.
