Should I keep my chickens in their run for a while?

OF COURSE this happens right before we leave on vacation...

Is a 2 inch wide bite mark small for a bear??? I don't honestly know.

Sorry for all the questions. I'm a little shook. We've had bear pass through, but not get into anything. It's pretty rare here.

Should I be worried about my birds and my goats? And my cat?

Hmmm....
When I see the bucket, my thought is dog, mine chews my bucket same way.
Also, my dog is very good at opening doors, he hasn't attempted the car door, that I know of, but I wouldn't put it past him trying to slide his nose Under and getting it open. Next thought is coons, smart critters that can open almost anything-possibly a car door. Don't think it was bear, he would have shredded interior. Good luck figuring it out.

Bear, they can get open doors pretty easily if they have figured out there's food in cars.

Well, if it was me, I'd keep them penned. At least until you figure out what it is, then you can decide what to do next. But then, I don't let mine free range at all - too many predators.

I really don't know about penning. It came at night when they were safe, so....

I would certainly move the camera. At least for a short term investigation.

Well, if it was me, I'd keep them penned. At least until you figure out what it is, then you can decide what to do next. But then, I don't let mine free range at all - too many predators.

I don't free range, either. They gave a "chicken yard" that is fenced, but it's nowhere near as secure as their run.
