@penny1960 Have you considered getting a dwarf fruit tree and treating it like a tropical houseplant?
My mum kept giant tropical plants in her bay windows in the dining room all winter long. In the summer, once all chances of frost passed, she moved them outside to her front patio where they would bloom and grow, then she moved them back in. We had tropical palm trees brushing our ceiling all winter long under a pair of fluorescent lights.
I know you can keep cold-tolerant dwarf fruiting trees the same way. And lemon trees can be pretty small so they might be a good choice! I'll be trying it with some bananas this year.
