What did you do in the garden today?

@penny1960 Have you considered getting a dwarf fruit tree and treating it like a tropical houseplant?
My mum kept giant tropical plants in her bay windows in the dining room all winter long. In the summer, once all chances of frost passed, she moved them outside to her front patio where they would bloom and grow, then she moved them back in. We had tropical palm trees brushing our ceiling all winter long under a pair of fluorescent lights.
I know you can keep cold-tolerant dwarf fruiting trees the same way. And lemon trees can be pretty small so they might be a good choice! I'll be trying it with some bananas this year.

@Rachel Taylor, I will try to get you some pictures of the cauliflower today!

Just went out to look over my garden and get those photos... Only to find that something came and et all of my big, beautiful cauliflower leaves! Now they're sad and ugly. :( They also topped my peas. My guess is The Evil Groundhogs(tm) are back... But it could be a squirrel or something dumb. Time to set my dog on patrol!

I may also try potting some cantaloupe. I read about growing them on a trellis.

I battle bind weed and a tough grass that travels by root runners. Nearly impossible to pull. Thinking pots may help for plants like cantaloupe and sugar baby watermelon.

What's the worst that could happen?

I can set pots in the main garden at the ends of the rows......

I am really really trying this year.

Sounds like quack grass .

Trying mine on a trellis this year also. It’s a big space saver
