What did you do in the garden today?

Is that cleavers you're talking about. That stuff sticks like Velcro. So do the seed pods. Its annoying but a pretty alright edible.

If wild morning glory is called bindweed, I can see why. I rolled a carpet of morning glory and kaikuyu out of the corner of my yard this afternoon. I started off pulling it off the fence, and just kept going. Its taken over a good chunk of that corner of the yard. Horrible stuff.
I'm pretty sure we were both talking about cleavers. It's kind of cool how people have different names for basically the same weeds. But as far as invasive weeds go, the worst I've ever seen is kudzu when I lived in the SE. Makes a cool looking basket, though

Lol! I actually call the sticky stuff catchweed. I figured out this year if I get most of it pulled before it reseeds itself, I can manage it ok. But that took hours and hours of weeding this spring. I hate that plant!

I do the fight with the morning glory since we moved here it was completely wrapped around a oak tree we have grand old tree couldn't breath the three of us ganged up swear you could see it breath in relief as we finished it tries to do the same in rhodies beside the house so we try to keep them at bay

We have bedstraw that kind of clings like velcro . Might be the same weed just different names .

I skipped watering today. We got a tree staking kit and took care of the mesquite in the back. I've decided to plant the hibiscus on the North side of the house where it'll shade the wall in summer, plus the South end of my garden, and get some shade most of the year. I might pick up another one to plant at the opposite end of area and have 2 out there grown as trees rather than bushes.

It'll only be another few days and that first tomato will be ready :drool
The melons are seriously heat stressed, I'm just hoping they last long enough to let the fruit mature and ripen. Everything is getting some fertilizer in the morning.

I have a red bird of paradise, very popular here, that has it's first blooms ever. They're beautiful with almost a fern like look to the leaves, but they look like a sunset when they bloom.

My snake plants have new shoots coming in around the main plants :yesss:but it's hard to tell how the other stuff is doing. The bed gets no direct sun at this time of year but tons in winter.

There's going to be a lot of sitting and directing my husband around in the yard today.

Plenty that needs doing, just not by me right now.

I injured myself last night. My dog and I collaborated to wipe my toe off my foot. It was pointing off in a nasty direction. I got it straight again but its either broken or was badly dislocated. I'm seeing a Dr about it shortly for an xray.
