What did you do in the garden today?

I love hemp material. There were several big hemp growers here last year with huge acreage that they leased from some local landowners. They had crews of people working on the fields at planting time and then at harvest. And then they left town and neglected to pay their lease fees....... this kind of thing does not lend itself to people looking favorably on leasing their land for hemp/marijuana grows :rant. I have no idea what goes in to making hemp fabrics etc. but I hope it is not like the bamboo industry which is heavy with chemicals for processing :tongue.
I’m sure there are some hemp products with chemical but a lot are100% natural hemp. My sister got me s new hemp bag a few Christmas ago. She said she assumed the other one I had was done and gone. When I was able to pull it out and show her it in great condition she was shocked. Had it since I was 16! (35 now. Umm I mean 29) lol But a new ones always awesome!

I was in Nepal. Fantastic place and people. I'm godmother to two of my host brother's boys.
Well, besides the obvious, (and actually not much smoking at all), baking and making into chutney for various holidays, feeding as animal fodder and using it as bedding in the matress sacks. I never saw anyone use it for cloth or baskets or anything like that, but I was in one small village.
Nepal is on my bucket list. I would love to go. Do you remember if they fed their chickens any? I have wondered about giving our chickens the trimmings

When my Brother and I where small a Dr. said we where adhd ? we needed meds she said no I will just knock them in the heads We both tested highly passing grades from 2 to 5th and so on through the years yes she would send us out to blow the stink off we grew up on a farm

It’s learning how to work with it. ADHD is a conclusion people jump to too soon sometimes. I was diagnosed when I was very young and wasn’t really a lot know about. 1 med available. My mom put me on meds and month later took me off. I Don’t down anyone who takes meds for it but I try to avoid meds if possible. Every situation is different though. Any natural way to help things is a step in right direction. Aspergers is what it is. No meds just finding a way to work with it... which makes you stronger I think

G'morning everyone :frow

Medical pot is legal in AZ but recreational hasn't passed. Hubs could benefit from pot but can't get a card because of his job :barnie

Today I'm going NOTHING. It's raining this morning :weeI know lots of you have had more rain than you would like but we're in desperate need of it here.
I'm not particularly happy with the corn I planted...germination is spotty. The pumpkins seem to be doing ok though. I'm going to fertilize tomorrow morning and plant another section of corn and see what happens. Maybe put 3 seeds in each spot instead of 2 :idunno

I am on Medicaid so state insurance they want first and second born to
use pot I figure when the state figures it is better than pain meds and will pay for it give it another try .. when I was younger made a laugh then have the munchies not sure
enough to screw the rest of my meds

Enjoyed first picking of New Zealand spinach in an omelet for supper tonight. This is my first time planting or eating this veggie. It is worthy of a repeat performance in the garden next year. Harvested 2 rows of garlic yesterday. Filled a plastic shopping bag about 1/2 full. Some of the bulbs were half as big as my fist.

Dill is all headed up, but no cukes yet. I'll be lucky to get even a few plants to mature fruit. So, I'll freeze some of the dill heads, so I'll have some available to use for pickles later in the season. Picking dill now will also open up the garden for more sun, and preventing it from setting more seed. The stuff is incredibly invasive, and I've not been diligent about eradicating it, because it smells so nice, and is tasty in a few dishes. But... seriously, how much dill can a family use????!!!

I got up all my garlic yesterday. Will be braiding next week hopefully. My dill didn't do diddly!! All silly little flowers and no leaf. Arghhh!! My beans are coming on and I need the leaves and the flowers for dilly beans. Never mind, I have a very good woman at the farmers market who grows dill trees so she will have some for me. I noticed that my King Edward potatoes (the undeniably best roasting potato) are getting ready for harvest. This always excites my boys as they love roast meats of any kind and herbed roast potatoes especially when they are from the garden. YUM!!
Got my first harvest basket of tomatoes today too. It's all happening folks even if everything is covered in a light dusting of ash!

I plant dill, mostly for black swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. And man do they mow it down! I planted four plants and I had nine total caterpillars on them at once last week. Works for me; hopefully I'll have enough for a bit of pickling.Czech I plant bronze fennel for a similar reason.
I brought jalapeno poppers to a potluck today--half with bacon, half without--all were eaten. As was my cold soba noodle salad, which had marinated tofu, green onions, ginger, toasted sesame seeds, a little rice vinegar and tamari. Gotta love people with eclectic palates.
I'm sad to say that I'm not a fan of the showy atomic grape tomatoes. Wanted to be, and they came into their own in mid-July, production-wise, but quality? Not so much. They're just not as succulent or tasty as I was hoping, and the skin is awfully thick. They're not fleshy enough to be a good sauce tomato. Bummer bacause thet are pretty.
