What did you do in the garden today?

We woke up to our first dusting of snow for the year everything here is crippled
we are fortunate no need to leave our home always been this way any dusting people become brainless first 24 to 48 hours schools are closed business's are closed :smack
That's kind of funny. I lived in Spokane, WA for several years and they never closed school for snow. They did close them down after the ice storm in 1996. Only because there was no electricity.

Penny, it's the same everywhere.
I don't drive, but we get feet of snow each year. D and I went out in a recent snowstorm, drove on unplowed streets with 3-4 inches of wet snow in a heavy four-door sedan, no streetlights on those roads, made it out 45 minutes to TSC (took us 1hr), had dinner together at Wendy's (we have a routine for that trip), then went home with 400lbs of animal feed in the car. Snow or sun the animals have to eat. The snow was so thick the only way you knew there was a car 20' away was from it's lights. It was a moderately scary drive, but take it careful and slow and you're fine. Up here if you can't drive in the snow you're just begging for an accident and we passed about 3 on our trip. But even in unfavorable conditions a good driver can just take it slow, give other drivers a lot of room, and you can get around just fine.

I always wonder how people who drive can live in Ohio for years, live with our snow and ice for years, and STILL forget how to drive on the first big snowfall every year.

Right now it's something like 60*F outside. We came out the other end of -5F to sunshine and heat today. It's only for today though. By the weekend we will be back down to 30. Still, it's a nice respite. One I need to take advantage of so I can clean up some animal pens and clear some weeds out of the garden beds for spring! Maybe, juuuust maybe, I'll even get to turn my compost pile. :)

It is same here in Chitown. First snow of the season and it is a demolition derby. Keeps Bodyshops busy.
By end of winter most everyone drives well.

It's everywhere guys. We don't get snow and rarely rain. People here think it's ok to go 80+ in the first rain of the season. I saw a terrible accident right in gront of me on my way to work one day. Guy in a lifted truck was flying down the freeway in heavy, flooding rain and hydroplaned. Hit two other cars and flipped his truck. I heard later on the news he ended up killing one of the drivers he hit.

Its been warm the past 3 days here. the 2" of snow we had fall last week is just about 100% gone but lots of mud left remaining. Can't wait for the spring to get here! Need a new concrete walkway installed to replace the heavily damaged one! Then I can level out the lawn and get things going. The joys of a new house!!
