What did you do in the garden today?

Ok people!
How do you keep your chickens out of your flower beds? I'm so stinking mad at my girls!

The best you can do is Chicken Wire! I don't keep my girls out, and I have no reason to. They shouldn't hurt any plants. The worst they may do is knock a small plant over, tip a pot (those two rarely happen), eat some fresh veggies or tomatos.
Why do you want them out exactly? They kill harmful bugs and ticks, and they will eat weeds and grass, and will turn the top soil to keep it fresh and turned. They haven't hurt my plants or garden yet :love Besides, where will anger at birds get you? (Proverbs 14:17) Your girls shouldn't hurt your garden :)

Welcome to the thread we all run about the same I am not letting my chickens in my garden or the main yard due to our dogs being stupid but chicken wire or field wire it is hardware cloth to keep predators out though

Topped my Carolina Reaper, checked my pepper growth, cloned a couple of tomatoes, checked on my Lemon tree, and checked the growth of the Mango tree I grew from seed.

How do you clone tomatoes?

You have special chickens. Mine dig up planted seeds and plants looking for goodies in the dirt. Step on and break any and all seedlings that sprout, and break or knock over taller plants in their desire to do the nasty right in front of me.

Chicken wire works, but is such a pain to use. Most of the good stuff this year is in pots raised up with no room for them to land, and if there's a perchable rim, I put sticks inside all the way around sticking up to keep them out. They also find petunia blossoms rather tasty.

My neighbor accidentally ran over the gray dogwood shrub I planted with his lawnmover. I planted it near our property line, but well on our side. He often turns around in our yard, because he mows around the pine trees that are right on the propery line. My fault for not putting a cage around it, as it was still small and skinny. He didn't even realize, and I didn't tell him because he would feel awful.
I had just bought a camellia shrub yesterday for another location, so I planted that there and made a chicken wire cage to put around it.

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday was a taste of summer. Hot & humid and temps made it to the 80's (remember this is New England). We only got a few scattered sprinkles, no thunderstorm activity thank goodness. Need to go to the feed store today but should be able to get some of the mowing done. I woke up to the sound of...no, not rooster crowing, but turkey gobbling. There were 4 of them gobbling and wobbling across my yard and into the neighbor's yard across the street. As long as they stay out of the vegetable garden I enjoy the comic relief they provide. All my garden beds are doing well. The hot peppers I planted in the front yard are doing well. I don't think my fig tree made it through the winter. Still no leaf buds, although there is still some green on the trunk /stem. If it doesn't leaf out I think I will plant flowers in the pot. Have a great day.

Today I will mourn for my snow covered garden.

I doubt much will survive. :(
How low did the temperature get? It doesn't have to be freezing on the ground for snow to fall. Sometimes a little snow can be an insulator. I did notice your snowy weather when I was watching the news. Sorry, but your garden may surprise you.
