Apparently when I was blackberry picking the other day, I got into something and have a terrible itchy rash on my arms and neck. I was wearing shortsleeves and jeans so those areas were exposed. My face doesn't have it yet. I don't know what it is, since my kids don't have it. I thought maybe a reaction to the bug spray, since I used a new kind with Picaridin. I looked it up and it said it is less likely than Deet to cause allergic reactions and there was only one documented case of a reaction. So either I will be the second, or it was some plant.
It does not look like poison ivy, but itches worse than I have ever felt in my life! I have been popping benedryl every four hours, and it is barely taking the edge off. I am calling the doctor tomorrow if it hasn't gotten any better.
I didn't get anything done outside, because the heat makes the rash worse.

Yes I noticed that. I’m not too concerned since the symptoms don’t show up for years and I’m already old so I’ll likely be one foot in the grave by then. I also have primo healthcare.

I was bitten as a teen and never had anything come of it. I think it is probably like lyme disease or rocky mountain spotted fever with ticks...some are carriers and some are not.

cannot think of much else that might help funny calamine was my folks go to for me I was always getting into stuff

I was in the woods all the time as a kid and never once got poison ivy. I know I walked through it all the time. The only time I got it was as an adult, when pregnant, from it being on my husband's clothing.
I do remember calamine being used for bee/wasp stings.

I found caterpillars on my tomatoes. I really wanted to avoid using chemicals unless absolutely necessary.

For those of you that do organic gardening, what do you use?
I get a twisted satisfaction using needle nose pliers.
Little ones I pick for the girls.
