What did you do in the garden today?

NO gardening today. 40s and the wind is HOWLING. Our fist snow comes Tuesday, and then again Wednesday night into Thursday.

Today I'm taking my new little cockerel down to a friends house. She used to have 200 chickens, but due to a barn remodel/demolition she had to shift animals around. So she got rid of all but 24 of her youngest hens until the new barn and stables are built.

I offered her Sheldon and she said yes. So now I don't have to worry about him and Andy fighting it out. And Sheldon won't have to share his women folk.

No real plans for the day besides inside. Maybe I'll sneak out and add some weather stripping to the run and bring the half naked birds into the heated workshop for the week.

I need to finished warping my big floor loom.

The overlock machine needs a new set of needles and winter hats need made.

And of course, the laundry always seems to have a load going.

Have a great day all.

Tons of rain today, we dont really need it.

Doing house work & tending to my sick chicken. She's no longer eating but is drinking so I'm going to give her a little time before I put her down to see if the antibiotics help. I don't think they will, unfortunately, but I gotta try.

Have a good day. :)

Sorry about your hen @Sueby. The rain here is coming down steady and hard. My neighbor came over yesterday and told me she had seen a mountain lion that morning near her chicken coop. A little nerve racking but I’m sure it’s looking for easier meals. I’ve heard about sightings in this general area over the past 7 or 8 years. Maybe he’ll eat some of the foxes that have been killing chickens in the next town over. Good luck with your girl.

Sounds like a lot of you are getting the rain we had yesterday! Today is gorgeous!
I was feeling under the weather Friday and Saturday. I even canceled all my plans on Saturday ( go to friends house and help can a 5 gallon bucket of pears and then go to a different friend's house for dinner and game night). But I'm glad I did. I feel much better today!!
Plus my friend set aside some pears for me so I can put those up at my house!
Today is 67 and sunny out! I've already been out collecting downed limbs and resurrecting the fire on the stump I'm burning out. It was still smoldering even after all the rain we had yesterday. The stump is about half gone now.
I also thought I would check the garden to see if there were any green beans. Boy, were there! I picked 3 pounds 3 ounces worth of green beans! The last time I picked beans was Tuesday before my son's wedding. So that was almost 2 weeks ago. I really didn't expect to find much, I thought the freezing temps we've been having at night would have killed off the green beans. I did pull up the last 3 bush bean plants and one of the green pepper plants. I'm going back out in a bit to tend the stump fire and I'll pull the last green pepper plant. I'm going to leave the pole beans and see if they surprise me again or not.
