What did you do in the garden today?

I think we've discussed my grapefruit & lime trees - they grow great in the summer & I half kill them in the winter. They never flower, never mind fruit! It's just too cold I think, I don't have a good south facing window except in the mud room so thats where they spend winters - we heat it just to above freezing as the washer is in there. I want to see a pic of your lemon & the tree please!!

Good afternoon all. Apparently someone shook up the snow globe again because it's all snowy again. LOL! It's coming down slow, only about 4 inches on the ground since it started early this morning but no sign of stopping yet. Great news @karenerwin. So glad you came out healthy.
Well @AllenK RGV my little indoor lemon tree looks like a little branch compared to your healthy looking shrub. I keep mine in a toasty warm corner on the North East facing corner of my sunroom next to my largest poinsettia. It doesn't respond well to direct sunlight. I found out what type of fertilizer is best for this little guy so I'll be ordering some soon. My chickens have been going crazy the past few days so I locked my molting hens up inside the coop in the brooder pen I had set up for the pullets when they were really small. The other chickens and the rooster were not being nice. At least they have plenty of food and water and can concentrate on pushing out more feathers. It's supposed to be sunny and a bit warmer tomorrow so I can put them in the old rooster pad for the day. Dealing with molting hens in sub-freezing temperatures is way too much work. I'm really concerned when it dips into the low single digits Thursday morning. It sounds like most of you have been pretty busy. I hope you continue to outwit your hungry chickens @TropicalBabies. Have a great rest of the day everyone.

Ours are all planted to get noon-evening sun so western exposures for us. Once the last frost hits I would move that outside so it has a chill period and to a 5-6 hour exposure of direct sun after it gets hardened off. How old is your lemon tree? I bet it would respond well to being transplanted into a 10 gallon container around the same time you are hardening it off.

The orchards here all have their trees in full sun and yep they sure are shrubby plants. Having grown up in non citrus producing areas all my life orange trees really do look different than I had expected. I am thinking I want to plant a load of citrus along the septic leach beds as we are so prone to drought here, and human excretion and wastewater is a constant.

No, my little guy doesn’t go outside at all. The chipmunks would try to claim it. I’ve never fertilized it and would likely do better once I feed it. It’s about 5 years old. It was a tiny sprout when I first got it. Great Christmas cactus @igorsMistress. I’m not good with cacti or succulents. I just went out and ran the snowblower over the driveway. I feel a little guilty for not shoveling it by hand since there was only 4 inches, but it went quick and a little fun to have the blower working well.

Do you not need to worry about those tomato hornworm moths in HI? Those cause so much damage here for us. I should probably start with the BT on the plants from day one and after rain showers to get a decent harvest.

I have almost no problems if I get the right variety on Tom's etc. The one I have not figured out is the Pickle Worm. I will have to net my plants at night for that little buggar.
