What did you do in the garden today?

@MROO Actually think will leave both alone these days.. Never had a taste for mutton had dinner once at a friends mutton was served they where sheep farmers did not like what I had then never tried it again .. will say we had Cattle ranch back then ... I was young when I was in AK so goat hunting does not appeal these days :old

What do you use for your whitewash? Commercial or your own mix? I haven't tried it, yet, but I need to do something when Spring hits (fingers crossed ... I want my flip-flops back, NOW!) My coo pis an old wooden playhouse, and it definitely needs some sprucing up. I'm thinking that whitewash may be just the thing!
I mixed it myself. 4 c lime, it's the kind with the H on it in the masonry dept at hardware stores, plus 1 c salt per gallon of water. Here's how I did it exactly https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/fugly-farm.1329089/post-22182074

That's for interior only. I use white barn paint on the outside.

I "hunted" for mine at our local Italian butcher. That's gone, now, and really I don't care enough for it to go too far afield. Nowadays I just eat vicariously through my Mom's Easter lamb. I do love me some mint jelly!

@WthrLady - the horse looks great!

@igorsMistress , Dorkings are from Roman times. They are supposed to be great for egg, sitting, and meat. They have short legs and 5 toes. Here is a pic of the GLW male in the foreground, but the Red Dorking male is in the background. They are really pretty. I think that is a female Dorking in the background as well - they are much more dull colored. My avatar pic is of two Red Dorking chicks. We butchered a Red Dorking male (22 weeks) at Christmastime, and they had very dark meat. It was also very good.

@Wee Farmer Sarah I baked Oatmeal Scotchie bars today. Always a nice treat, especially in cold weather. That is one cookie batter that bakes up best in bar form.

Rack of lamb...:drool

On a gardening note, it's still freezing here and we got a bit of snow last night into this morning so there's nothing growing in the garden anytime soon.
However, I did get my seeds. I decided to try Little Shop of Seeds (littleshopofseeds.com). Everything is just $0.55 and is packaged by hand hand mailed out quickly. It took less than a week from ordering to the seeds arriving and there's a good quantity of seeds in each bag, more actually than I would get in the envelopes of seeds I buy at the big box stores. There's 4 or 5 things that weren't listed on the site, so those I wil have to source locally when the time comes. It is mostly herbs that I am missing.
Also, we are actively adding to the compost again. We stopped around Thanksgiving because it started getting too cold and wet or frozen to get to the compost and wasn't worth the hassle. Now the fresh pile is growing. I am struggling to get enough carbon material right now though. We already composted the Fall leaves or shredded them to mulch the run.
