Morning . Beautiful day yesterday and again today . Spring like temps and sunny . Rain coming Monday and then snow Tuesday and Wednesday . Then cold . So yucky week ahead .

Good morning gardeners and welcome to all the new members joining us. I really don't mind snow @CyndieRauls, it's when it turns to solid ice and takes forever to melt it loses it's charm. Not to worry @karenerwin, it's all a learning experience. I planted my two apple trees and dwarf peach 2 years ago. I didn't prune last year but there were a lot of fruit developing, which I just pinched off. This year I will leave a few on the trees, and hopefully next year will let them "do their thing." There's a certain time you should treat them with neem oil (I believe) to prevent / minimize insects in the fruit. I'm tackling the pruning later today, . In your climate @hysop I would go ahead and plant the herbs and see what happens. Here, I'm thrilled if my perennial herbs make it through the winter. My tiny leek sprouts are getting bigger. Hopefully they will be standing up with their little green stem in another day or two. I'll wait another week before planting more. Nice to see the baby chick photos. I haven't ordered any yet. I'm hoping to add two buff orphingtons and two leghorns to round out the flock. After that, chicken math will have to take a break. Glad you are feeling better @igorsMistress. Good morning gardeners. Lots of new growth in the garden, including weeds, sigh. I'm tired of weeds but today I'll be out there pulling quite a few.

Here is my best option for the full sun garden. I can use the wall as one side and run shade cloth across to reduce the heat that emanates from it. This would end up being roughly 12'x18' and puts the garden between the lemon tree and the mesquite tree. I'm a little concerned about drainage with heavy rain, but once we get it layed out with block I can start improving the soil with my compost. I'd like to add a second row of block on the east and west sides for a couple more grass frames. They'd be 15" wide but 18' long.

So nice to see fresh greenery. Is your rooster a leghorn? He’s quite handsome. Another promising sign of Spring, a few minutes ago I saw two sparrows bringing fresh bedding to their birdhouse. You know the wild birds are smarter than we are.

I checked a seed that had had it’s root break off while in the fridge germinating. I was hoping it would survive but it turned brown and started withering. So I removed it.

I am also noticing the stem of one of my apple seeds is turning brown so I’m guessing that one may not make it. We shall see.

I need to transplant some of my pear seedlings to pots because their roots are poking out already and I don’t want them to dry out more than they already did.

Thank you. Not a Leghorn. He's an Nn mutt really. His parents are Bresse/Turken/etc mix. This is my youngster, I can't wait to see what he looks like full grown. His mom shares the same father as my older guy but with a CCLB hen and his father is an EE/Turken mix of some sort.

Tell ya I am on that boat I ate so much Salmon and Halibut in Juneau I left there in 90 it was 2020 yes this year I manged some fish sticks

Do you have pictures? I have two old tires I am considering converting into planters, probably for flowers.

To wet and cold to go back out just now, just came in from the coops heavy sprinkles
but really cold wind hands are like ice ... I stack them in twos grow everything I want adding like 6 more stacks pulling the green house dome out
