What did you do in the garden today?

LOL. No meat on a layer. And TOUGH As nails unless you cook them FOREVER! SO let her egg pets be. THere is something to be said for chicken therapy too.

Besides you're one of us that just happens to LIVE in suburbia. Unless that was YOU at the shop today picking up 2 dozen chicks in your new Mercedes C-Class and putting them in the truck because they're dirty? Jaw is still dropped from that encounter.
I went to one of the feed stores today to try to find a companion chick for my lone hatched chick. No luck. I tried two other places but I got there too late, they were closed. I'm not used to our stores closing so early! I will be calling Cackle Hatchery in the morning and ordering some Cornish Cross chicks. I can drive up there in a little over 2 hours and pick them up. Otherwise it will cost me an extra $25 to have them shipped to me.

I am sure that our stores are out of chicks because so many people have jumped on the chicken raising bandwagon. But like you, I think that many of them have no idea what they are getting themselves in for!! Hopefully, many of them will fall in love with chickens just like we have!

Good morning gardeners and welcome to the new gardeners on the thread. Growing your own fresh vegetables can be just as addictive as raising chickens. I got up early with an assist from my alarm clock to get to the Senior Shopping hour at my favorite grocery store. Still no TP, but lot's of all other paper products. I finished off my shopping "hoard" so I can stay home for the next 2 months. Except for picking up my BO chicks on 12 April. I think it finally stopped raining. I know it snowed last night because there were a few flakes left in the grass. The sun is also supposed to make an appearance today as well. I need to do some indoor gardening on my seedlings today and I'm hoping there is enough drying going on so tomorrow perhaps I can test the soil in my hoop bed and the pea "patch." Hopefully they'll be OK to plant within the next few days. Keep those lovely pictures coming. Have a great day everyone.

Made some ChickPea dark chocolate donuts this morning and this week's bread. I can't stay out of the darn donuts.

I was going to spray the orchard this morning, but the kitchenaid needed a repair and while I did that the winds picked up. So maybe tomorrow morning.

The alpacas refuse to go into the pasture. Something must have been down there and freaked them out. I'll try to drag them down later.

This is my 1 lone hatchling. I’m thinking of getting her a plane ticket to Hawaii so she can join @TropicalBabies and her 2 lone chickies!!
Update: plane tickets to Hawaii are too expensive and I found some meat chicks at a local store so she has 6 adopted siblings now. 🥰 I just finished getting them set up in the outside brooder.

So much easier than snuggling her in a neck scarf and playing mommy hen all day long.
Boy she sure is cute!!! 😍 Have fun with your babies. Thinking meat chickens aint such a bad idea...

Aloha kakahiaka all!!!

Beautiful cloudy day with the highs to reach 79. A new cold front to reach us on Thursday and bring rain with it. :celebrate:jumpy
Got the lawn mowed and some Plumbago trimmed. Sold out on all of my eggs and have put my customers on hold so I can stock up, freeze some eggs and be able to donate more when/where needed. We personally only have 2 eggs in our fridge and I'd like to bake some too. Bran/carrot/craisen/pineapple muffins. I ordered big muffin pans that I have been wanting for years and I plan to perfect my recipe and make it a 'thing'.
Harvested a bunch of arugula and tomato to share with my egg customers along with some tomatoes. It was a nice sending off note and I got a bag of shrimp in trade.

The little kids are awesome and enjoying each others company.

Teen kids got sequestered by me. Much safer and less harassment from the elders

Elders are calm and have a nice rhythm about them today. I love having a rooster at home.

Getting our lists together to top off our feed/food supplies and take care of AJ's list too. probably brave it tomorrow. We have enough to make it another 4 weeks easy but are trying to be smart about it because of ages. Me being the young one here @56.

In the garden, only harvest and trim today.

Stay well all!!!!
