What did you do in the garden today?

We have chives, basil, lettuce variety, parsley, mint, thyme, and squash all growing right now. Everything else should be popping up this week.
Nice! I forgot to mention our spearmint as well. My winter spinach never made it to harvest, well it was harvested by the silkie chicks. In the future 1x4 wire isn't going to be used just pure chickenwire.

Does anyone know of a way to cheaply rid your property of Fruitless Mulberry Trees? The only sure fire way I know is to wait 35 years so they die of natural causes. I cut one down last year because it was stunting my actual Fruiting Mulberry. I go and weedeat off the 150 or so new shoots every 3-4 months.

I had a thought that possibly using a black tarp over it might be my next move since we average 1300w/square meter here 300+ days out of the year. I don't want to use roundup because those two are too close together along with numerous other reasons.

I have a good crop of mint next to a cement block building here to ward bugs, mice all kinds of things .. When we bought the place I thought it might be the old pump house they called it root cellar .. Came across old photos that show the pump house was building up closer to the back of property where the scrub trees and blackberry have taken over

Roundup on the sprouts is probably the safest as it works on green tissue . Tordon is a stump killer like the tree trimmers use under power lines but might migrate with rain . You could learn to graft female trees on the sprouts . You do need 1 male tree for pollination .
