What did you do in the garden today?

So sunny and 52 with a light wind. I went into the city to deliver masks to the retirement community and then back an hour the other direction to a small town fabric shop. As only 10 people are allowed in JoAnns at a time now and the wait just to get in can be two hours.

The retirement community and etsy are keeping me hopping.
I couldn't stand to spend sunny and 52 inside so I mowed the acreage for Spring. I love everything being even and those wonderful LINES. The birds were all outside enjoying the sun. I have two broodies, one in a broody breaker, and one in sick spa. She's been acting "off" for weeks, and just looked like she'd appreciate a couple of days in the warm and quiet.

SO OF COURSE 74+ Saturday, 50s on Friday, but tomorrow? 6-8 inches of snow. FCOL!

Still need to get seeds in cells.

Evening gardners! My back hurts and I only managed about 120 more feet on the back fenceline of that 1/3rd acre. Still not even halfway there but it was a cold morning with overcast all day so i wasn't interested in going outside to do the work until after 1PM. The chicken left the newly acquired green globes alone so that is a great sign. I can't wait until harvest time next spring! Which incidentally is when my prickly pear fencing should be an effective barrier against both man and beast but not rabbit proof. I haven't walked the fence line yet today to see if that brat made itself a new ingress point, but the next time I find one I am setting up a snare trap for it. It is sad that the dog has to pay for the sins of the owner.

Later edit- I wish it were possible to discuss Texas Law with this owner. He claims he is too poor to build a gate/fence, but I am showing how you do it for free with my actions. Additionally, it really could be a coyote claiming my livestock. Snares are accepted "managment" methods in my state. Finally, should it truly be that animal coming on to my property and reducing my hens by law it just became a coyote per "Vernon's Texas Health and Safety Code". No idea why this individual claims I don't understand our culture I have lived all over this State during my lifetime. Blah blah blah from me:heI just hope nobody is offended by my previous comment as I like to be lite and lively. Predation of our flock gets my wife and I very upset.

Me three! Personally, my husband (and I) don't have a problem taking a shot at something if it needs to be shot at and its on our property. Just sayin.

Some of these people with dogs are f**king clueless. Last year, we had a family in our area with two German shepherds who jumped the fence, and attacked & dragged a man walking his dog in the road (and the dog) around the perimeter. Damn dogs jumped the fence with no inhibition. And I have a German shepherd. They can have a nasty temperament. I'll be the first to admit that. But that's why we have an 8 foot fence surrounding our property.

Keep care of you and yours...you have every right to protect!!!

My Mom called me this evening to tell me that the weatherman said to cover your plants.. I told her that I have had my garden plants covered for a week now and still lost all but 2 of my tomatoes. The peppers and strawberries seem to be alright. I did go out and cover the new fruit trees/bushes but the older trees (apples and peaches) are too big to cover.
Made a second batch of wild violet jelly and picked a bunch of redbud blossoms to make a jelly out of that too. Had to order more pectin because I used the last of it on the wild violet jelly. I decided to order off of Amazon instead of going to the store.
