Oooh cherries! We sleeved under the fence to get the drip tubing to the area where I'm going to plant 2 Montmorency Cherry trees.

Yesterday we got the little garden fence up to keep the dogs out of the veggie area, and DH is setting up the drip tubing today. We'll probably plant some when we get back from vacation next week. (Picking up 10 new chicks on the way home!)

I have more trouble with cats in the garden than anything else .. they think it makes a good litter box...

I rarely see loose cats around here - I think the coyotes get most of them. We do have a healthy skunk population around here though, and I'm hoping the fence will help with that.

My dogs know boundaries too, and won't leave the property, but this is a brand new garden at a home we've only been at for less than 6 months, located in the front part of the yard where they are used to running around. I could just see them running through the new garden and breaking all my seedlings as they play. I think a cheap wire garden fence will help teach them not to go in there.

soo many cats have been popping up lately and come to think of it I haven't been hearing the coyotes much lately either.... I know what direction most of the cats come from, I can think of a couple good places to plant catnip that might lure them away/ keep them from coming....

...one of my dogs jumped in a new bed last year and somehow missed every single plant ...

It might freeze here tonight . I am going to have to cover stuff....... I usually just pile dry brown leaves on my seedlings/ strawberries and they all do fine... I guess the cherry will be coming in..

We have been covering our very young peach tree with a fitted sheet at night before the frost. If all goes well,this could be the first year it sets fruit!

In answer to the people who are helping with my blueberry "crisis" (

)
-The pH is 7.5.
- There were red buds on it this morning
-I haven't put any compost or fertilizer on it so I don't think it could be nitrogen burn...

Were scheduled for a freeze tonight so we just spent two hours draping fruit trees with plastic sheets and setting out buckets of hot water. Of course my apple trees decided to bloom out today of all days. Sigh.
