What did you do in the garden today?

Would love to see those skirts, @WthrLady!

Finally fully recovered from my surgeries in February & March. Yay! We spent the day finalizing some things in the coop, then digging new compost into the veggie garden beds. Normally I put everything out Mother's Day (conveniently usually right around our last frost date), but we've had freezes every night since Thursday, so it's probably better to wait another few days or even a week. No biggie. With all we have had happen to us since December, I expected to be more behind than I am!

Oh, Hubby accidentally spilled some sunflower seeds onto the drive, so I scooped a few up (boy, are our wild birds spoiled...) and dug them into the soil. Can't hurt, and might have a pretty payoff. ;)

I had t cover all the fruit trees and garden veggies on Friday night and then do it again tonight ( Sunday). Everything did well with a low of 37 on Friday so I am hoping they will do fine tonight as well. I did see some sprouts coming through the top of the soil in one of the 5 gallon buckets that I planted potatoes in! We have rain predicted Wednesday through Monday but the temperatures finally make it into the 80's and high 70's on Thursday!
I plan to get the grass/sod removed from the raised garden area and then get the cardboard down and then the manure on top of that. Oh, and put the logs in the bottom too.

So DP had a master plan for our Rubbermaid 300 gal stock tank. View the finished product:

Doesn't that look awesome? She got 6' fence boards, we cut them into three pieces each and she just jammed them under the lip of the stock tank and then bapped (technical term, "bapped") the bases in at the bottoms. Looks like a hot tub! If it gets lose with time we'll just staple rope around the middle.

Yesterday I said we'd set a 12' post up with a bird house at the top. Behold:

The eagle on his perch. I had to get a ladder out and we finally coaxed him to come down. That is BK (aka Bad Kitty, he thinks he is soooo bad).

This is our helpful and very good boy Trouble. He was guarding the warm dry greenhouse.

Some of my kitchen herbs, got more to get planted but I've used the heck out of these.

And these are just plain pretty.

Pretty darn clever that DP of yours. It looks pretty terrific and not a bad idea at all. Your little kitties are precious... even the bad one and even the trouble one. Must have been fun getting him down. lol. All great shares. :lol: :thumbsup

Very cold this morning: 34F. Forecast says it might snow a little bit this morning. I live in Ohio, not a state in the Rockies. Another night below freezing coming up tonight and today’s high is not even going to reach 50F!! Yes, nearly mid May...

No gardening work going on here. But, I did select some squash seeds to start indoors. And the melon seeds have begun to sprout indoors.

LOL @NewBoots, kitties are too cute! & the tank looks great!

@NightingaleJen, congrats!

Morning everyone! We got out first littles 'egg'. It was soft shelled & off the roost, but to be expected. I knew one of them was feeling off last night when I put them to bed. She was holding her head low & was by herself, it scared me a little because she was acting like the the one I had to cull over the winter for what I think was a reproductive issue. But she looks good this am. I can't tell if it was maybe 2 eggs off the roost, or just 1, looks like a lot of shell & wet, but who knows. I didn't expect eggs so soon, I sure wish they were in the big girl coop for this! But here's to not having to buy anymore eggs!

This ridiculous weather needs to end!!!
