Seeded the replacement wax beans, Cherokee Wax Bush. Hoping for good results, as fast as the rest of the garden is growing I'll half expect to see sprouts tomorrow. :) Since the strawberry starts DP got said not to use Potting Soil (holds water too much, go figure) I mixed up a couple wheelbarrows full of sand, aged horse manure, bagged compost, potting soil, rabbit poop, and some of the little actual soil we have here. Hopefully, it will do. Not much space left on the planting deck anymore so we'll be looking for another pallet or two. Put some more boards on the fence, the east side is nearly finished and it does look nice.

We found preying mantis egg cases in several spots on the old fencing. We live in Oregon and preying mantis only live in a small area on the southern coast. Where we live! I've bought the egg cases many times when we were living in Portland. We first saw the adults last summer when we moved here and were thrilled but now it looks like we will have plenty of our own. Squeeeeeee!

We finally had rain and can grow grass again. Plan is to get out with the lawn equipment today or tomorrow. We still have a tomato plant hanging on for dear life in the garden, but the cantelope look happy still:fl

My desire to go out right now is a bit limited as our rains naturally brought mosquitoes as well. Can I safely treat myself with Permethrin? The product label didn't have a human dosage on it? :p Cows, check, horses and poultry check just no information on their keepers.

Good morning. The sun is actually shining. It has been a week since I’ve seen that shiny and bright orb in the sky, so it’s a good start to the day.

We got the tomato and pepper beds planted: we have 26 varieties planted. Nearly all new to us. We have 4 cherry types and the rest are medium Tomatoes to extra large Beefsteaks. Peppers: mostly Italian sweet types, 12 varieties.

we planted cucumbers and some squash. Butternuts and yellow summer squash. One of the Butternut types says it will get to 40lbs....I’ll believe it if I see it. That variety is called “Trombone”. We planted 7 types of cucumbers bc last year, we got possibly four cucumbers the entire season, so we figured it was a good year to try out many to see if we can get some cucumbers.

today we have melons to plant.

Last night I had a dream that I had been in the garden -maybe planting plants and next thing I know is that it is snowing...I guess this elongated March-like cold and wet and overcast weather we’ve been having has gotten to me just a little bit. So nice to see some sun and warmth today.

Good morning gardeners. Got nearly all the mowing finished yesterday. I have one little area left that will have to wait. We got a little shower this morning. It was nice but not nearly enough to give the garden a good drink, so that is on the list for today. I got the front flower bed planted yesterday. I still need to find a sturdy border for it. I picked a few more radishes yesterday and planted more. Also planted the squash plants. The peas are doing well and starting to climb up their strings. It seems a little weird, but it got up to 82F yesterday. It was so hot outside in the sun. The baby chicks were pretty warm and before I went to bed I looked and they were all snuggled up on top of the brooder plate. They still don't have all their feathers either. I need to make a dash to the grocery store this morning, then it's back to work. Have a great day everyone.
