What did you do in the garden today?

Managed .55 inches of rain yesterday. Just 20 miles south 1.8 and another 5 south of that 5".
Ya. I'm good with .55.
More coming tonight and tomorrow night and Monday. Every drop counts this time of year.
Today is scrubbing chicken prison cages, poo picking, and scrubbing the winter panels. I also need to get to the market and deliver poo. Not in that order of course.

Niece graduates HS at 1pm Eastern. They drive by the school front office at their designated time, with a car full of family, jump out in cap and gown. Grab diploma, get quick photo and jump back in car. (Every parent's dream ceremony, every graduates nightmare.) The senior class was broken up into 5 groups. Each group has a day next week assigned to them. Then on that day from 5-7pm they can sit outside their decorated house/lawn and people can drive by and honk and wave in celebration. No stopping, no parties. I mailed a ton of decorations last week as they have been in lock-down and everything has been closed since March. So she's all ready. Full Academic Ride to Private univeristy. Sniff, sniff....so proud of her. (For those that remember the saga from last year, yes, this is the family the dad simply walked out on last MAY. Just up and left and has never returned.)

My DS didn't have a ceremony either, he was home schooled. We went out for our traditional end of school year banana split. Since he was graduating, I sprung for extra cherries. LOL.

He graduates college next June: Double major, double minor.

So Hats off to all the grads this year! @TropicalBabies
One final note that sold me on these was that they have been tested with actual 25G needles those are quite tiny. So thank you for pointing me in that direction.

Game Warden next door dug through his truck box....he has Hex Armour 3092 for his brushwork.....so must work for him! Wild rose, thorny bushes and trees, road debris barbed wire....etc
Let us know will ya?
Thank you again for phoning a friend. I compared the two gloves and the version I purchased has a higher puncture resistance so looks stat wise like an upgrade. Sorry to whine about being tired of getting impaled by cacti I just have a plan/vision. HD has failed me repeatedly.

This came crawling out of the garden box this morning. Pretty sure it was going to eat me but Indie stepped in- she is a bad a** and ate it instead. :sick

Fantastic resume @WthrLady , glad you are proud. Doubt this Hawaiian boy will make it to collage- I am just thrilled he finished HS. I'm sure he really had to work at it and it is accomplishment enough for him and his family. They are good, kind, honest, salt of the earth people and I am proud to know them. They were celebrating all afternoon and eve Hawaiian style with lots of honks and hoots of congratulations to be heard from blocks away lol. Yes, hats off to all! Wishing them the best future and hope all stay safe and well.

Working on coops and brooder, playing with chickens and a little refereeing of their integration. Did a big water yesterday plus chores so today is a bit of a cruise. May go for a a ride this eve, make dinner for my awesome DH- turkey meatballs and a big salad :p poor guy- then go for a bike ride.
Stay well all! Hope your holiday weekend is a good one!!!

We got the tomato and pepper beds planted: we have 26 varieties planted. Nearly all new to us. We have 4 cherry types and the rest are medium Tomatoes to extra large Beefsteaks. Peppers: mostly Italian sweet types, 12 varieties.
Beefsteaks! The season here is generally too short for them but I usually roll the dice. Didn't this year but I shoudda, and will next year. On one of our best years we'd have sun warmed beefsteaks with a little olive oil and salt for breakfast! That was so luxurious!

Centipede!!! The only thing worse than a spider. Go Indie!

Another nice day, we could use some rain but you can't have everything. Fertilized and watered the deck, and the raised beds, weed-eated the back and front yards, squeezed a few more pots on to the deck, and placed a few last spare herbs and flowers in the raised area. I have to say I really like the mixed beds, so pretty and we are hoping the flowers will bring in the pollinators for the berries and tomatoes. We planted the sweet potato slips the other day and the seller warned us they'd look pretty punk for a while, but I wish they'd perk up faster. And I was a bad chicken momma and gave the flock a fresh ear of corn but how could I not? It was really too old for human consumption and the chickens love it sooo much!

Superchicken!! I fear the red headed centipedes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scolopendra_heros) we have in Texas. I think there was only a single Civil War era report of a death due to one, but still...... eww. You have to learn how to do the Texas kick and flip in Hawaii too?

My last surprise was just a black widow and dispatched that with a can of Raid. No chicken came to my rescue.
