What did you do in the garden today?

That's almost funny. But don't worry too much. Beef actually shrinks up a bit when frozen. Water expands, but solids like meat usually shrink. But you might want to keep a mallet and an ice pick handy anyway. :lau

You're probably right, it may not have expanded as much as flattened out from the weight, but 150 lbs worth of 2 lb packages packed on top of each other was not a good idea! It was a nightmare to get out & only got worse the closer I got to the bottom. Lesson learned there! It's much better now that it's vacuum packed - good to go.

Good morning gardeners. @AllenK RGV that has to be miserable, ugh! @Wee Farmer Sarah I wouldn't be happy either, roundup is terrible stuff. No garden work here today, I'm prepping the kitchen for paint. My counter is natural granite floor tiles so I decided on white walls and grey cabinets this time. Have a great day everyone.
I'm dying to paint my kitchen cabinets...your colors sound great. Pics!!

That’s similar to the color scheme in the house I sold. White cabinets, black tiled floor and grey walls. I loved the look.

That's a nice color scheme Sarah! I have light floors; the only window in the kitchen was over the sink. Since a previous owner enclosed the patio it's pretty dark in there so I'm hoping this will brighten it up.

Cupcake the rabbit is likely to have her babies today or tonight, she's big as a house so hopefully a big litter. Gave her some bunny candy (fresh clover) and we'll see.

Pics for sure! At the auction this weekend, I bid on a pregnant Doe. I didn't get it, the price went a little higher than I wanted considering that I didn't go there to buy a rabbit. They always have rabbits, so maybe next time.

I shot my first rat yesterday. It was the size of a not so small kitten

Wow! Glad you got it.

It seems like I only have a hope for my cantelope left in this world to sustain my family plus the chicken.

What happened to everything else? Maybe I missed it.

Whenever the farmer grows corn behind us (mere feet from some of our raised beds), he sprays roundup (or some kind of herbicide), and usually the tomatoes will show some leaf damage from it, but they recover ok. Since the winds are usually blowing towards his field (so we are usually upwind) it isn't too bad and farmers try to spray during no to light wind.

on't pack 400lbs of non-frozen beef too tight into the deep chest freezer because it will expand as it freezes & DH will have to use a crow bar & mallet to get it out.

Oh No! Glad you got it out!

Would love to see pics! We have a somewhat dark interior, but we do have a large East facing window in the kitchen, so we get some nice morning light. There is a wall to the south, so we only get the light in the morning.

Is there ever a time a Doe ISN"T pregnant? I swear they're born that way.

You just described my kitchen exactly! & Gray is what I want to paint the cabinets. I can't do white though, DH is too messy. He takes a shower & when he's done the soap is dirty. I don't even get how it's possible. :idunno
