What did you do in the garden today?

I had a friend who gardened in the city. She grew pumpkins for her kids to use as jackolanterns in a big plastic pot. Then trained the vines up a piece of fencing and made hammocks for each little pumpkin. she had to resupport each hammock with a larger hammock as the pumpkins grew - she didn't realize that they would actually grow so well and get over a foot in diameter. It was really pretty with all the different colored fabric scraps that she used.

Hey lazy gardener, must be the area you are in. For the past 5 or 6 years, I've started all my squash, cucumbers, corn melons, everything inside. Transfered them all to little pots to grow larger, then transplanted them into the garden, after Mothers day, when we are past the last frost, and they have all done fine.
It was pretty funny my first year veggie gardening, I didn't know any better and must've had 8 each zucchini and crooknecked plants, each, and, I started 18 pumpkin seeds, they all sprouted, I put them in pots, then planted all 18 pumpkin in the garden, what a mistake.
One year I tried "Trombone Squash". That was interesting, had 4 plants, they took over a huge ares, trellis and all. They were okay to eat, but not my favorite.
I have problems with tomatoes, they take FOREVER to ripen, even the "early" variety.

Grafted Persian walnut , heartnut and hybrid butternut onto black walnut trees . Sprayed my stone fruits for insects . Looked for morel mushrooms but found none . Need to till the garden so I can plant some pole beans . Break time is over so back to the garden .

Replanted several tomatoes that got bit by the late frost.planted some mandiville vines and hibiscus that I got on the mark down table at Lowes.and started some more seeds in pots.

Putting the chicken to work on a chicken tunnel so I don't have to till out the weeds and grass.
Potting up peppers habanero, ghost, and orange bells. Also have bunches of basil to grow out a bit more. Putting in a whole row. Love pesto, it's great for headaches and my youngest just loves to eat it.
Of did I mention it repels flies in the coops
