What did you do in the garden today?

@karenerwin , I am so sorry for your loss. Been there, done that. It is hard. I finally gave my puppy, that rode on my scooter and had for 8 years, away because of it. The guilt was too much for me even though I know we can not see around corners.

@WthrLady , I got a good chuckle thinking Florida weather tracking to be slow. The scariest hurricane seasons ever but I guess when compare to tornadoes and blizzards it is slow. I just never thought of it that way lol. :hit

Beautiful bounty gardeners!!! So awesome to see you folks raking in the goods and complaining about bugs and heat ;) Way to work it!

Only a few more tomatoes, papayas, mangoes and starfruit for us and I am very grateful for it. Love not having to shop for fruit, makes the lettuce purchases more bearable.
I had a heart breaking hatch (though they are as cute as can be) My hatch came in 24 hour waves so I had day old chicks knocking the hell out of the unhatched eggs and then had a curled foot chick who could not stand. I made the call to get them out and let the rest hatch in peace and I more than likely killed 5 chicks. I did the opening of unhatched eggs today. I had 4 unfertilized (how'd I miss those with my random checks????) 1 early death and 5 perfectly formed just never made it out. Oh the guilt. Our humidity was 70% and it was mid day when I took the first 5 out, so pretty warm. I was arrogant enough to think I was the exception to the rule of "never open no matter what!" Well, lesson learned... :hmm
K, here are some near impossible photos of the new gang of 10. Barred Rocks with fuzzy feet and a few stunning Americanas.

Have a great day all!!!!
I'm so sorry for your losses! Honestly, I don't believe opening the incubator for a few seconds is what did it. They died in shell and that happens. I have opened my incubator to remove chicks even while eggs were externally pipped and still had all the eggs hatch. I'm certainly no exception to the rule I assure you. It takes more than a few seconds of exposure to shrink wrap a chick as well. So don't beat yourself up there too hard lady. Losses happen, even in nature. :hugs
Your babies are adorable :love

My first full sized tomato in a few years. Its a rutgers 250. Its not perfect underneath, but I'm happy.
And I'm really happy with these peppers!!! Beeyoutifull! Im trying to wait until they turn red. They're california wonder.
Check out this little guy! He looks like a lichen, but he walks! He was on my plum tree

Thanks @penny1960. Daughter doesn't agree that it will be covered in pine shavings and is planning for a chandelier. Champagne wishes..... I was looking for cheap linoleum. Habitat had this.
I'm with your daughter, I have no power to my coop but if I see a cheap, small chandelier I am grabbing it! My girls deserve it! :ya

Good morning gardeners. Not much of a haul in the garden this morning. Just a few green beans and a cucumber. We got around 2 inches of rain in the past 36 hours and the summer squash are not loving it. I had to pull 2 yellow squash as they had fuzzy mold on them. Knock on wood, but everything else looks fine. I think I will try giving them a calcium spray to see if that helps them recover from the effects of the deluge. I have a couple of turnips to pick but will wait until tomorrow. I really need to get to the store today. The chickens are fine, however they didn't get out in the grass yesterday because of the rain. That looks like vinyl plank flooring @Sooner Magnolia. That is real sturdy stuff. I put that in the bathroom of my last house and it is very durable. I wouldn't dare put a chandelier in my coop. My girls would be swinging from it or figure out how to dismantle it. No pictures today. Perhaps tomorrow. Have a great day everyone.

Tried to pull a Tom Sawyer today. Daughter and Niece helped me whitewash the inside of the coop walls. They didn't fight over the job and I finished it. Also laid peel and stick vinyl flooring. Daughter helped with that some. Looks better than my floors right now LOL.View attachment 2259422
I love whitewash in my coop. It's neat the way it dries and slowly turns white.
