What did you do in the garden today?

The streets are now clear woohoo!
Here is a picture of the broody our neighbor dog discovered Friday evening. Fortunately that neighbor dog is in love with me so she was easy to call off. 24 hours later though where she was hiding her clutch though they would have probably died from the flooding? Who knows. She pulled a fast one on us.

I don't remember their being bubblegum pink!

Sunflower about to bloom. Took this last night... This morning, the head was gone! Apparently not deer-proof... Sigh.

Tomatoes on the branch nearly severed by a storm a couple weeks back. Guess they'll make it!

More tomatoes.

Particulary pretty nasturtium I spotted this morning. Will have to mark the stem somehow and save the seeds!

Wait, how did these get in here?!

Wha-? Another one! Those sneaky things!

Thanks for indulging me. ;D

pipping is so exciting! And are they making noise? That just slays me!

Yes, they sure are! This batch is talkative, one or more has been cheeping from inside the shell for at least a day (before external pip). Now that 3 are hatched, they are talkative even more so, then they fall asleep for a few moments.

@NightingaleJen , I don't think it is a critter, our dogs keep the mammals away for the most part and there is no sign of insects. Could it be overwatering? We haven't had much rain lately and it has been suuupppppeeerr hot so I watered maybe a bit more than i should have on Friday and then of course got a massive storm that probably dumped another 3 inches on top of the sprinkler that afternoon. I suppose my plan is to pull back watering this week and see if it helps.

Any other thoughts from the group are welcome...some of these tomatoes are nearly the size of a softball and they are of course my favorite part of the summer garden.

Splitting from too much water might be part of the cause, but it is usually a split in some kind of line.

The black arrow points to what could be splitting from water. But the white area looks like it has been chomped.

Do you have tomato hornworm? They will eat leaves and tomatoes, but at the time I had them, all my tomatoes were green (and chomped), along with leaves. I don't know if they will eat ripe tomatoes. Otherwise, I would think it could be some rodent, possibly (even squirrels - I KNOW they eat nearly ripe to ripe tomatoes).
