What did you do in the garden today?

@Wee Farmer Sarah - I can always use more suggestions! I made this bread https://joyfilledeats.com/keto-zucchini-bread/ & this one this am https://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipe...recipe-with-lemon-glaze-low-carb-gluten-free/ The lemon blueberry one is delicious, haven't tried the first one yet. I'm not sure how gluten free they are, I think baking powder has gluten. The much prettier ones are the lemon blueberry, the other one uses coconut flour so I knew it wouldn't look too appetizing.

I made quite a few squash boats, a little undercooked so I can freeze them & reheat for lunches.

I then froze 6 separate cups of shredded & squeezed squash for later use. I'da baked more bread but I ran out of baking powder.View attachment 2264030View attachment 2264031
What do you stuff the squash boats with? They look tasty.

They are stuffed with mix of hamburger, onion, garlic, my crushed tomatoes from last year & a little tomato paste. Then topped with cheese. If I had ricotta I would have a done a layer of that in them too, but I'm out.

They are good made with a mexican theme too, taco seasoning in the meat & salsa. Topped with cheese & then sour cream & avocado.

That’s sounds really yummy. Thank you.

Took my puppy, Lucky, for a walk in Don Robinson State Park this morning.

We saw several types of flowers and even found a small blackberry patch with about a dozen ripe berries. Can you say, “Trail snack” 😊

New signs for Missouri state parks.

The guy who left his land to the state in his will for it to become a state park was the inventor of “Off”. Never had any idea all this was about 18 minutes from my house.
We got home just in time. We had a short but heavy rain shower just after we got home and inside.

Went out to check the garden today, should have my first slicer tomato ready to eat...went out and learned we have a problem. Any thoughts on what is happening here? Looks like it burst, doesn't seem to be a pest. Looked around and the next large one about to be ripe had the same thing happen. These vines are loaded with huge tomatoes and the last thing I want is for them to start going to wast 2-3 days before picking. HELP?!?!? :(

@Sueby, those all look delicious! And great ideas! I just took some ground meat out of the freezer for zucchini boats for dinner.
@MrLeeHo that looks like either critter damage or water hitting ripe tomato type of damage. It only seems to happen to ripe fruit and for me, it's usually really bad with cherry type tomatoes.
@karenerwin what beautiful and startling blue eyes Lucky has! And great pictures of the wild flowers.
Any neighbor who doesn't walk fast enough gets zucchinis at least @WthrLady. If I actually like them they get peas too. :)
Babies!!!! @Acre4Me , pipping is so exciting! And are they making noise? That just slays me!

Cut back the borage so I can get to the berry and tomato bushes. Slight threat of rain but I think it's just a tease so I did the watering. Cut down about half the peas and gave them to the rabbits. They'll get the rest of them tomorrow, they're still producing a little but the vines are sickly now and covered in aphids so time for them to go. Might go fishing later, it looks like a good day for it, overcast and very little wind.

Have a great day all.

Hi everybody! Computer is still in the shop, so I finally stole Hubby's. ;) Desperate times...! Typing things out on my phone and my Kindle takes forever and a day.

Everyone's gardens look terrific! We had buckets of rain as well as serious heat (heat index in the high 90s to 100/101) last week, then I had a horrible migraine Friday into early Saturday. Last time I looked, the HI is still at 98 today, with the lovely bonus of Ohio humidity. Happily, the veggies (tomatoes especially) are percolating along quite happily! A few pictures are on my phone; will have to share those later. The hibiscus began to bloom, and I swear the flowers look different than last year when it comes to color. Will have to refer to my files. ;) (Took a picture of Ben beside them last year. Files aren't really files if they do not contain collie hair in one form or another.) Something is attacking our bush beans, so I spritzed those last night. Mostly...I admire our chicks.

Oh! So remember I said we had eleven? Everything I read swore up and down that chicks sleep a lot for the first few days, but I honestly think ours are having coffee delivered every morning before I'm fully awake. Saturday we were cleaning out the brooder and Hubby said he thought they were cloning themselves. So we counted by hand, the chicks conveniently in a box.

There are twelve.

It only took us four days to figure that one out. :p

Have missed a lot, but sorry about the pup situation, @karenerwin. I am also very sorry to read your mom is struggling. I'll continue to pray for both of you.

Migraines are terrible, @igorsMistress, and I'm sorry to hear you deal with them too.

Coop looks good, @Sooner Magnolia! Chandelier sounds fun, electricity or no!

@penny1960 same here, sorry to hear you are struggling as well! What zone are you in? If you have at least 60 days, you still have time to try both again. Go for it! Sorry about your Silkie. :(

Love those lemon cukes @Acre4Me! One of these years I'll grow them myself. They're pretty--just different looking.

Salsa Verde is the best, @AllenK RGV...with cilantro, though. Everybody here loves the stuff! But even without, salsa verde is delish.

Thank you for sharing the exploits of your Hell's Ange--er, barn swallows, @WthrLady.

Those boats do look fabulous, @Sueby.

@NewBoots somewhere just the other day I found a recipe for borage vinegar for salad dressing! It uses just the blossoms, which apparently turn said vinegar pink. I'm happy to dig it up if you like...with our borage in full force now, I kept it nearby (just not on me this moment).

Had that happen to a few of my tomatoes, too, @MrLeeHo, summer before last. It's disappointing, to be sure.

Well, almost time to relinquish my husband's computer. ;) Happy gardening, all!
