What did you do in the garden today?

I'm not a pea expert. Do you think they would get enough light there?

I think so, the tomatoes are don’t have much leaves I was more worried that the peas would take light from the tomatoes. But they are already at least 6ft.

Question; What Zone are you in in Texas?
Reason being I'm on the border of Zone 8-9 and spring time is the only time we can plant peas, which are considered to be more of a cold crop. We do Trellis peas with fencing.

The last couple of years we've planted Radishes as Companion Crop to Peas.

Cilantro and Mint have worked in the past for us but always early Spring and never Fall.

Good luck

I’m in zone 8, it does make sense that they would be cool crops, but according to what I read online sugar snaps can grow in fall 8-10 weeks before frost. A&m’s fall guide has the southern ones as August 1 planting date. So I figured I might as well experiment with a few seeds and plant them soon.

I’m technically using fencing, but it’s two cattle panel that’s been arched into a archway, fixed to the ground with six t-posts.

If A&M says so, they are probably right! (Gig em Aggies!) Sugar Snap Peas and Radishes grow well together! Funny story, our dogs LOVE Sugar Snap Peas and our chickens love the vines/leaves!

@Kenzelton the 3rd Here is a list I’ve used to help me:

Far right colum are “foes” so do not mix with tomatoes.

Well.. My cucumbers and one zucchini plant are all but dead. None of them produced this year. The only cucs I’ve gotten have not been good. I’m pretty sure the way I planted them may have had something to do with that. But oh well there’s always next year. So I pulled them up and tossed them in the refuse pile.

My tomatoes and pepper plants ARE doing good so I fertilized them today.

Just an FYI rain is awesome but sucks at the same time my poor little Silkie roo's are in hiding its been raining for 2 days here and all my booted bantams are muddy and need baths and I can't move my new mulch its heavy and wet grrrrrr
But my plants are getting lots of water
Hey Flockin! used to live in Fairborn and Xenia, I've stomped your roads plenty!!!

Hello gardeners and welcome to the newbies! I got out and watered this morning, then spread some more hay. The air had a strange smell to it, almost a chemical tinge and the sun was a glowing red orb behind clouds or smoke or both. Weird, maybe there was a fire, I don't watch the news. Came in and did a major bunny pen cleaning. I scrubbed one of the rugs, stapled a fleece blanket to an old desk for hidey holes and mopped. Going to have hubs add a pop door to it when he's on vacation in a couple weeks so I can leave the big door closed.

The dishwasher is running, the trash is out and the house has been straightened. If my bandana dries out soon I'm going back out to work on the hay. Gotta do that in shifts or the heat makes me sick to my stomach. Had to put a hwc lid on the brooder, the chicks are trying to fly out. I have 8 eggs in the bator and only 3 looked good when I candled last night. I didn't toss any yet, it's still early in the game. Ok, gotta go clean the brooder, have a great afternoon everyone.
