What did you do in the garden today?

If you are into fishing, several fishing lure companies, mepps, and panther martin, buy squirrel tails off of hunters/trappers. Fish love to eat bits of meat too, so do cats dogs, etc.
That never occurred to me even though I'm a huge fan of fishing. In fact I'm going out to the lake house tomorrow for three days of cold beverages and fishing.

I grate it, and squeeze out the extra moisture, freeze it on a cookie tray then bag it. It then gets used in stir fry -I have not really paid attention to the firmness, it is squash -and I guess I expect it to be mushy.
However, I will pass 'the feeding it to the fish' on to the aquarium people in this house.
What do you do, slice it thin and float it?

Have you tried drying it then freezing it?

I generally end up slicing one good slice (lengthwise) for "Mr. Awesome" (DS's 12+ inch pleco) and then the remaining part I quarter lengthwise and split between two other tanks where DD's bristlenose breeding population live. I anchor it using forks (they're stainless steel and were handy - and hold the pieces well) and/or with rubber bands on a rock and wood piece. If/when pieces get loose and are floating they do get found by some of the plecos, but keeping it on the bottom makes it more accessible and likely to be eaten.

Hmmm, drying......that is a thought........

We freeze zuccinis and yellow necks. We slice and place in vacuum seal bags. Great sautéed or fried.

Those tree rats are as bad as rabbits and don't mind fences either.

Picked three strawberries, watered, had a beer, watered again, had a beer, trimmed back the squash and zucchini as they were encroaching on the peppers and strawberries, had a beer...I DID use the hose for watering..... Also, since the garden is in the orchard where the birds are kept, built a little PVC roost for them. Three got on it immediately....Alice is a bit of a chicken, I guess. Had some blackberry bushes coming out that were from the previous owner, so I watered them...with the hose!

That is so very pretty!!! The whole setup, the colors you used and how neatly you've got everything is just a beautiful picture.

You clearly have a talent for color and form, an artist!

Haven't planted a single thing in the garden yet, but will tomorrow, as we finally, finally, finally got wood chips~after much effort and driving~ and got the fencing done around the garden to keep out the chooks, as well as getting the trellises up for maters, cukes, peas and beans.
