What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all. We have no power again, 2nd time in 3 days. The trees are so damaged from the ash borers & caterpillars they are just falling over. This is 4 houses down, tree took out a pole (never mind, won't load). I live on a cul de sac so I'm stranded! Lol. I was supposed to have an energy assessment done on the house this am. 🙄

A little hard to catch up from my phone without wifi, I have limited cell service.

I need to get my flu shot still. & I have both been ordering seeds early & saving them from my garden & from friends. Can't be too prepared!

Ugh! Good luck lady, hope you can get out of there and get your power back soon!

Good morning gardeners. I’m picking names for my AC chicks, a cockerel and pullet. Here are my name choices, what would you pick?

Donny and Marie
Jem and Scout
Richard and Karen (carpenter)
Bart and Lisa

So far Bart and Lisa are the front runners.

Since AC chicks - Donny and Marie, as both were dark haired people. However, Bart and Lisa are good and fun names!

Pickled eggs prepped a few days ago. One of them was "Balsmic eggs" The recipe says wait only 3-4 days. Most pickled eggs marinate for 2-4 weeks. But we opened up one Balsamic egg jar and here is the pic:

Onion and garlic and a touch of sugar boiled with 1:1 Balsamic and water, then poured over eggs. Interesting how the color has not really penetrated the interior of the egg white - unlike beet eggs. The flavor was really good. Balsamic goes well with onion and garlic, and the eggs had a nice blend of all three flavors, but they were not overwhelmed by any flavor. Would make for some interesting conversations at your holiday parties!

Good morning gardeners. Sorry about the power outage @Sueby. The rain has arrived. The best part it's not torrential or windy so it's the best kind that is gentle and soaks in. Love the new chicken names @igorsMistress. I do have leftover seeds from last Spring, so if the bottom falls out of the seed market I have something to plant. There were a few beans left on my bush beans so I left them to dry. I'll save those. I managed to get the grass seed thrown down yesterday evening and it has survived the rain so far. I noticed 2 more tomatoes getting larger on the old vines so I'll let them go for now. No more hard frosts in the forecast for the next 7 days or more. I even have a couple of okra forming. Too funny. I'm thinking of making my own seed starter for next spring. Without getting too overly technical or scientific I thought mixing my clean compost from my tumbler and mixing it with just plain dirt. Does that sound reasonable? The stuff I used last year was crap and I won't be using that again. I will need to bring the mix into the basement before things start freezing outdoors. But suggestions on the ratio would be helpful. Have a great day everyone.
