What did you do in the garden today?

Weeded the lettuce of chickeweed and fed that to the chickens. THen cut the lettuce to put in frig for tomorrow.

Cut the Oriental vegies for a sir fry breakfast this morning. Kids loved it!!!

And it's been drizzling since this morning!! Stronger rains soon to arrive!!

I thought that only happened to me.
Recently we bought a 4 wheel yard cart- pull by hand or by mower or my jeep. It will hold 1400 pounds and dump. Best money spent this summer.



Had another big rain before midnight- more predicted today. Got lots to do in garden including planting. Tomatoes are really looking good.

This weekend I was gifted with 3 truckloads of poopy old hay from a friend's sheep and goat pen. I got my butternut squash mulched then ran out of weekend!

Picked some vegetables, watered, had a beer. Same old, same old. Pulled a few weeds out. Watched the chickens in the tractor. Checked out the peaches, still hard but getting bigger. Cherries were gone, dang birds. Oranges just starting to come out. Apple trees full of half-grown fruit. Pumpkins stagnant, not warm enough yet. Tomatoes are taking over the square footage garden box, four feet high and still growing. Need to learn how to can them so I can make spaghetti the RIGHT way....the tomatoes in the stores taste like cardboard compared to home grown. The "grass" in the orchard is pretty much gone with summer approaching, don't water it because I don't want to encourage it. Got a Japanese Maple at a yard sale and looking for a good place to plant it. Just another day in Paradise, CA.
