What did you do in the garden today?

Sorry to hear about your corn loss. We're starting to get more grasshoppers lately :( My painted Mountain Corn is looking pretty good to me, but I have no idea what it is supposed to look like.

I saw a rabbit on my driveway and DH said "you'd better let the dogs out" and my BC ran right past him because his job is to check the chickens. (LOL). At least the rabbit was startled enough to run off the property.

I can't figure out why my garden has not been bothered by either ground hogs or rabbits. I've chased a ground hog across my yard before, seen plenty of rabbit droppings around the perimeter, also seen plenty of deer signs. The only mammal garden pests are coons and perhaps squirrels... oh and voles, mice. No dog either. I'm thinking it may be time to put out a live trap for coon. Saw some scratch marks on the door frame of my big coop.

Worked a double yesterday did chores in the dark left the top open on doe cage (no biggie). Had a lovely thunder storm come thru while I was sleeping there was about 5 inches of rain in the coop and squirrel standing at the opening feasting on sprouted grains. Does are fine they have coverage in the run to, but peeved about sharing feed! I did find seed geraniums for decent price this morning $2.50 a pot vs $4.00. Yes I'am cheap ! Everyone stay safe

Had to replant my corn. About 90% of it eaten. ? crows, ? some little brown maggot looking grubs.
Oh , sounds like you need a few chickens to help out. Fork over the area while the hens have a snack. My SS were great for that.

Shhhhhh . . . lol . . . . dont jinks your good luck. As long as the coons cant get in, I leave them be. They will move on if there is other easier food to get elsewhere.

Been waiting nearly 2 months for plants from a reputable heirloom seed company. I recievd a refund check for the purple sweet potato plant, that i really want. And 3 dried up fig plants. I might be able to salvage. I think that is the last order i give them.

Picked our first cherry tomatoes today. Got others coming on along with peppers

Purple foliage sweet potato? I have some of that. It makes a pretty ground cover. Does well in the shade.
Or is it a tuber making variety?

Purple tubers.. The others i have planted have purple in the leaves.

I was really disappointed. If they couldn't have sent the figs that would have been okay. As it is I am not sure i can save them. They were dried up too much. I have issue with them all along. I won't be buying there again.
