What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all.

We have almost a foot & it's still snowing, though slowing down. Not a single flake stuck to the bird netting so that was a huge help! :yesss:. I went out with the snowblower & did all the paths around the yard, for the dog, the people & the chickens & DH is doing the driveway. The chickens will not even come out of the coop even though they have a run fully enclosed with not a drop of snow. :smack They're gonna need to eat & drink at some point! Goofballs. I'll put down straw when it stops snowing.

Good snowy morning. We're around 12 inches already and the storm is supposed to keep going until around 3 pm today. I feel good, got up, had breakfast, shoveled a path to the coops to feed and water the chickens and started on my second cup of coffee by 8:10 am. I made the sourdough sponge last night, so will start the bread dough soon. I'll take pictures later. I'm not even going to clear the driveway until the storm is over. The painter is tentatively scheduled to return tomorrow so I need to get some things taken care of today. I'm hoping they can finish it up then. It's a bit windy now but I'm hoping I get a little bit of a blanket on top of the coops and runs to help insulate from the frigid cold the next two days. I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to start working on my garden plan for 2021. Fingers crossed. Nice photo @Sueby. I covered the popdoor with a towel last night to block the wind. As soon as I moved it the girls were like gang busters running out into the run. Randy usually opens his own door, but apparently couldn't get it open today. Round two of shoveling and water runs starts around 10 am. This is my winter exercise program that includes cardio and strength training. LOL!

Good afternoon gardeners. Hubs is grumpy, I have a headache and the dog ripped out his stitches and has to start all over. :rant I’m looking forward to having tomorrow off though. I plan to get some weeds pulled and figure out size for the outdoor bunny area. Probably water also, things look like they need a sip. Not much else going on, have a great weekend.

Made another batch of gingersnaps today. Went out this evening to cover the plants since we’re getting another hard freeze. When I got to strawberries I found 3 of my plants were dug out of the ground:mad: replanted them but only one looks like it will make it. I guess I’ll have to go get some more luckily the plants were free. But I really didn’t want to be planting strawberries in December-January.....
Also any clue on what dug them up and how to stop it?

The chiropractor said I have a bulging disc and told me not to go to work ( Friday, Saturday or Sunday). That's my whole work "week". Fortunately I have paid time off I can use! I go back to the chiropractor on Monday.
The seller countered our offer and we are going to go for it as long as the inspection doesn't show any major surprises!
No snow here, just cold. I'm headed to bed. Good night all!

Good morning gardeners. Snow total for this storm was a little over 15 inches of the white fluffy stuff. Still, shoveling was very tiring and keeping the chickens in liquid water kept me hopping all day. I did manage to get the sourdough bread baked and even made brownies, yum! The painter is on his way and hopefully will finish up today. I'm so looking forward to the final paint job. Even with the wallpaper gone and the walls primed it looks immensely better. Our temps are going up to near 32F today so that will be nice when cleaning the coops later. Overnight temps dropping to near 0F then we get a warming trend. I'm glad you got a diagnosis @karenerwin. Not that I'm minimizing your pain, but at least knowing what's causing the pain is helpful. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. All the shopping is pretty much done. No more room to store food so except for a run to her old apartment to turn in the keys DD and I are hunkering down. She works totally from home and decided to do a holiday party via zoom for her employees. Her big boss liked the idea so he made it company wide. It is what it is, 2020 has been a bizarre year and I've found that considering it through the "glass half full" perspective helps to maintain your sanity. LOL! The lettuce remnant I put in water several days ago seems to be doing well. Fingers crossed it actually grows. I'm thinking of trying to start a cherry tomato plant and seeing how that goes. I'm guessing @Sueby, who lives just a wee bit south of me got about 12 inches of snow and considering how frequently her power goes out may be in the dark this morning. I hope not. As promised yesterday, I took some pictures of the white stuff so you can see what you're missing. Have a great day.
