What did you do in the garden today?

Something is up with our 6 year old black lab. She started acting weird a couple of hours ago. She keeps wanting to go outside and then she is staying for a long time. Usually she wants to come back in as soon as she has finished doing her business. Tonight I have been having to go out and call for her. This last time I had to go out with the flashlight and look for her. She had bedded down in some leaves up by the house. It's 18 degrees outside but feels like 7, way to cold to let her stay out like she wants too. She wasn't coming in when I called for her. I got her to come in and she is shaking like she is real cold ( but she doesn't feel cold) or she is in a lot of pain or something.
I put the space heater near me and had her lie there but she has gotten up and moved. She is also breathing faster than normal. She hasn't eaten anything odd that we know of. She's been eating and drinking. She is up to date on all her shots. Her nose is nice and wet but not runny. She keeps getting up and pacing and walking over to the door to go outside but I don't want to let her out any more. It's past midnight and she wants to just stay out there but it is way too cold. I hope she is alright! Oh and she was no where near any of the ice melt.

I finally got the driveway cleared off and was able ( after 2 days of trying) to get my car all the way up to the top.
Butchered a meat chicken. I still have 3 more to go. They are almost a year old now. :lau
I also made another batch of dog treats.

have you checked her for injury? pacing sounds like pain.

I would go ahead and make a vet appointment if you haven’t already panting and acting lethargic and shaking are all pretty concerning especially in an older dog. There’s a lot of things that could be... But that sounds similar to how one of our past dogs acted when her heart was acting up. Because it wasn’t pumping right fluid would collect and put pressure on her lungs making her pant. Praying it’s nothing serious.

I know this may sound a little strange to a lot of you cluckers but today I'm preparing for a freeze. Insulating pipes, zipped up the greenhouse, mulched some tender plants, etc, etc, etc. Being on the Texas Gulf coast, We don't have enough cold weather down here to "be prepared" every winter so we do it when necessary. Supposed to get down into the teens sometime next week (if it gets there, it will be the first time in about 20 yrs ) so I'm doin what I can to prevent a disaster. Wish me luck!

I hope the dog is ok Karen!

Our dog seems fine today! Yes, we checked for an injury but didn't see one. I don't know if she has been peeing or not, I'll watch for that today. My husband said this morning he had wondered about her heart too but hadn't mentioned it to me. (It wasn't on my radar at all).
Not sure if we can even get out for a vet appointment. We have had ice and snow and crazy low temps. Schools have been canceled for the last 3 days. More snow (and ice?) on the way for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
