What did you do in the garden today?

Our travel fees are not taken off the final bill. But it's what you have to build in when you live 'out here'.
Mostly we can fix things ourselves.

Bailed out the post holes and will set those after lunch.
Went out to water the stuff in the seeding area and couldn't stand the layout anymore. The potting table was pretty were it was, but I couldn't get to the shelves, which is the MAIN point of having the shelves, usability.
So I shifted the table, which meant moving wall stuff, potting stuff, and the electrics. Took an hour and a half but it's done.
I'll bring up a fan and set it on to help move moisture around.

Baby Pics! Will get more later. Our first priority was getting them to drink, giving each a drop of Nutri-Drench, checking them out then putting under heat.

We got 12 Straight run. 6 Bourbon Red Turkey poults, and 6 Black Jersey Giant Chicks.

Turkey poults are the light ones.

Aww! Sleepy chicks/poults. We have since moved the light so they aren't huddled.

The barn cat thinks the crumble tastes great...she ate it over the course of several minutes. This is not the container we gave to the new chicks/poults - I had filled this container and put it down in the barn before I took it out to the 5 week old chicks.

I got all the toilet paper rolls (77) I've saved turned into starter pots. I filled about 1/3 of them with potting soil, then had to break for lunch.

Tomorrow is supposed to be very windy and rainy. We sure need the rain. The next sunny day is supposedly Monday. After all the rain, I should be able to pull the weeds out of the heavy soil garden. And, due to the clay up there, I'll be an inch taller when I leave, with all the clay stuck to the bottom of my shoes. :)

Since I'll be inside all day tomorrow (most likely), I'm going to plan out my tomato beds.

The daffodils are starting to bloom. :celebrate

It’s in the seventies today, and while overcast with strong winds, it’s still decent. I finally got some color popping up today! :highfive:

I let the chickens out for a few hours. I just looked out the window, and they have discovered the compost pile. :gig It’s not so much a pile as a ground cover now.

Loving the tulips this week! Didn't get much done, just a few seeds planted and the squash seedlings moved outside. Let the Little plant some small potatoes that had started sprouting in the kitchen in a large planter, so we'll see what happens - he was so excited to get to "help be a farmer" though!

Crammed in a lot between last night's rain and the rain after noon tomorrow. The once acre of "lawn" is now fertilized, the seeding area was cleaned and rearranged, the garden fencing and posts were shifted from the car to the garden, the posts for the greenhouse deck are set in concrete (I'll build the deck tomorrow), the hens were allowed to play for a while today outside, I weeded 2 rows of garden until my sinus said to stop. I have HUGE blobs of 12 inch high prairie grass coming up. It looks like the garden has been invaded by muppets. At least they pull right out with no problem. The hens enjoyed looking through the shaken root blobs for juicy worms.

Just a LOT of little things.

All showered and squeaky clean now. Think I'll put some custard in the oven. No idea what I'll make for supper. Argh. Maybe BBQ sausages.
