What did you do in the garden today?

Speaking of hoses… I hate mine because it kinks like crazy. Unfortunately, it’s the only one that didn’t break in less than a summer. It’s a 50’ orange one from Walmart, and is now showing wear at the kinks. It is not leaking yet.
So, who has a hose they actually can recommend?

Do NOT buy the brown hoses (medium duty) that Lowe's sells. They are GARBAGE! I bought a heavy duty hose from Harbor Freight for the same price as the medium duty one from Lowe's. The one from Harbor Freight has been wonderful. It doesn't kink at all and actually FEELS heavy duty. It has lasted me through several seasons.

I was thinking mothballs, but did you know it’s illegal to use mothballs to repel animals? Apparently a stray (predator!) cat can eat one, and die. You are allowed to use them if you keep them inside of a sock. So, that is my suggestion. Try putting it in a sock. A stocking is too thin and allow the dust out.

Well naturally I wouldn't want to kill any innocent animals but realistically how would the authorities know you were using moth balls as a repellent?

There's other things you can use as well like Snake Away. You can also Google natural snake repellent

I weeded my asparagus patch today. Yay!

Unless they're just really late starting, I have very few asparagus that are still alive. Boo!

I'm holding out hope that they're just really late coming up...

I uncovered my dog crate full of starts for 3 hours today. It was sunny and breezy, then clouded over. "Cloudy bright," as we used to say in photography. Everything is looking happy and green.

On hose get one rated for hot water . Rubber . Might have got mine at Menards . They last for years . Can even freeze .

I found a farm and agricultural hose that is supposed to be alright to use in the winter. I’m going to look at Harbor Freight and will also look around for one rated for hot water (gosh, you’re smart!). Especially since this summer is supposed to be crazy hot.

Up potted more tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and some assorted flower starts. Ran into town and hit the farmer's market for honey (orange blossom, mmmmm), cinnamon rolls (huge enough for 2 people each), and a new tie-dye shirt (old hippie). Also got more bagged soil. Harvested our first sugar snap pea, and the girls all came back to the run like well mannered ladies, all in all a great day!

It will cost you more in the short term, but save you in the LONG run. Buy a rubber hose.

Isn’t this weather just the craziest? I brought chicks home Sunday in the snow, now it’s close to ninety.
Yeah, couple weeks ago heard snow, no biggie ground warm won't stick. I was wrong. Got up late. Have to drive back roads for awhile figuring once I hit the main road should be good nope, couple inches covered that also couldn't break 45 with snow tires and 4×4, ended up late for work. Latter that afternoon people were mowing their lawns...just didn't seem right lol :gig
