What did you do in the garden today?

No cacti here at the moment. I can walk around my neighborhood and pick prickly pears when they are in season. My neighbor has one that I want though. They don’t water it at all except in the hottest summers when rain is scarce and it’s beautiful every winter. Lots of stickers to keep people from coming over the wall!

there are prickly pears near me. a few years ago I picked them without gloves:he:lau

Well, I thought Id work in the garden all day. Had to goto the pharmacy to pick up scripts, did NOT expect to wait in that $##$kn line for 2 hours :( Then my buddy called, hey we got a mushroom class going on at the farm, want to do some lions mane cultures, so spent the rest of the day helping him out and plugging and spawning and doing shroom innoculations. Hopefully come march /' april my fruits pay off. Have to STILL get the yard tweaked up but absolutely HAVE to get the garage cleaned / spots open for my plants, it's only a matter of time now and we WILL get frost, I need a place to put these so I don't kill them. sigh... why can't I just for ONCE... get done, in a day.. what I planned on getting done... in / on that day?

Indoors today.
DW and I purchased and potted a ficus and bromeliad as well as two mass canes we added to our huge pot with an existing mass cane.
We also made a screen of sorts out of a peice of poly panel to keep the dogs off three ledge of our bay window where we keep most of the house plants.

Excuse the fly trap sitting on the mass cane pot. That's my hope to catch a few flies that were annoying me.

Yesterday evening when dh got home we finished filling the garden box. Then today I got seeds planted. I planted my six collard green starts I grabbed at the store the other day, then planted cabbage, mustard greens, rutabaga, leeks, and watered everything. I thinned my carrots out, because they germinated extremely well for being two year old seeds. I finally spotted the first little garlic sprout! Super exciting!

Tomorrow we hope to build more box sections. I've got onions, beets, and strawberries to plant still, and I honestly wouldn't mind having a whole box each for all three of those. Especially the sweet yellow onions. I put onion and garlic in almost everything I cook. 😋 tonight we put a whole (small) head of garlic in the eggs for dinner. So much flavor! Yum! Store-bought just isn't the same.

Felt really rough first thing this morning, better after a few hours and a light breakfast. By lunch I was totally feeling back to normal. Fingers crossed I kicked that minor health issue. It's one of those things that usually goes away on its own in two or three days.
