What did you do in the garden today?

😇I will! Trying to get stage by stage pics as we go
The chickens are going to LOVE the greenhouse as one of my projects will be cricket growing for them. Jumpy snax 😂
That sounds awesome! Your chooks will be so happy! We have tons of wild black crickets here but not anywhere the girls can reach them. And the pictures of the work in progress are great, we have them from the empty lot of our property on and I love looking at them.
Ahh coffee , starting fluid for the morning impaired .
A little rain this morning . Trying to get outdoor stuff done before my knee surgery 12-6 .
Coffee having the effect it has, I don't get my morning coffee until after critter duty and Penny walked but that first mug is sooooo good. Keep us updated on your surgery, DP is going to have knee surgery done as well. They've had her on an exercise program to prepare.
Well, I promised pictures so lets see how it works. I get IBC totes which I use for my garden stuffs. It's an above ground gardening, done redneck style !! (ie CHEAP!!) Plenty of advantages, and if something goes wrong, ie fungus etc, it's hopefully contained to ONE tote, so I can quickly isolate, destroy and prevent spread.. anyways.
OMG your set up is incredible! Rain collection is on my list of projects to get done here sooner or later but yours is so well done I am envious! :bow

Got the peppers moved to the greenhouse yesterday including a couple pulled from the raised beds. Good thing too since we had our first frost this morning.

No gardening here, except to grab my sister some lettuce.

Boy did I get a lot done tho - cooking lunches to freeze, breakfasts to freeze, I have cranberries dehydrating, went to BJs to stock up on some stuff because the prices at the grocery store are insane - if they even have it. I can't find cream, cream cheese, almond milk & some cheeses right now. :idunno I wanted to get a big bag of frozen chicken wings & they were almost 40 bucks! :th I'm sorry but I'll eat my chickens first. :gig

That hawk was sitting on the gate to the run again today. He is relentless. He spends a lot of time there, I can tell because he poops on my newly laid cement pad.

Beautiful sunset tonight. Plus check out this bug I found! Fortunately, I did not touch it with my bare hands. The owner of the resort said it is very poisonous 😳. It can be deadly to small children. They call it “40 legs”. So, if you are ever in Jamaica and see one, leave it alone!

Well I guess I'll lose Amelia, I cleaned her up and trimmed all the feathers from around her cloaca but she has a partial prolapse. :( Once she was clean I gently pushed it back inside but it was out again within an hour. Someone has been laying giant eggs with blood on them and I'm betting it's been her and her reproductive bits are messed up. She acts normal and even put another hen in her place when I returned her to the run but if she starts showing distress I'll have to put an end to it. There are some other hens that I've been needing to cull so I'll probably do them all at once. Bummer, I really like Amelia. :(

when I bought my first chickens the guy advised me not to love any. the most loved ones are the first lost ones - he said. my experience confirmed it.

we call it 40 legs as well. I got beaten by a baby one and it hurt for 2-3 days. my chickens love them. they catch and eat huge ones, as fat as my finger and about 10 in long.

my dogs again killed some of my chickens, ducks, guinea hens and 4 rabbits on saturday when I was not here. they must leave but it is hard to rehome 2 and 3 yo german shepherds. I don't feel like doing anything after this catastrophe.
I am so sorry.. My shepard was the only one of our dogs we could trust with the chickens

@chickengr I'm so sorry about the dogs. That's just awful. :hugs

& @NewBoots I'm sorry Amelia isn't doing well. What breed is she? Sometimes laying is so hard on these little birds. :hugs to you as well.

Raining out this am. Day 4 of Corid for the littles, hopefully they're doing well. I wish they'd roost already so it'd be easier to look at their poops - it's hard stalking them around the run in the rain. :lau
