What did you do in the garden today?

I don't sew but I do felt. At least I did, I haven't felted much since we've been at the new place. I should make a bunch of the sleeping mice, easy and fast and good for gifts.

You tuck them in a teacup.
OMG OMG OMG !!! LOVE! I did a sleeping doormouse painting and have a felted christmas mouse for the house. I LOVE THOSE!

I have absolutely zero creativity, I cannot draw, sew or knit. I have no appreciation for good art, most of it makes no sense to me. I thought the Sistine Chapel was tacky & I made it thru the National Gallery in London in 20 minutes & never have a need to go back.:gig

But I can bake cakes! My best friends wedding cake:

I do appreciate those that have artistic ability for sure though. I wish I could make quilts. I've always wanted to try. But I'm too blind in my old age to learn now, lol.

Yesterday noticed a little leaf walking along my pepper plant, looked more carefully and there were tons! Leafhoppers I think, strangest thing I've ever seen the ants farm. I put out bait for the ants, I don't think the leafhoppers themselves are doing much damage.

All of the fig cuttings I started on a heat mat are rooting, so I up potted some and moved them out to the greenhouse.

Good morning gardeners. We have a week of mid 80s temps then dropping into the 70s. There’s weeds in the carrot patch I need to pull and the lemon tree is getting some water now. It’s blooming again even though there are lemons still turning on it, crazy little thing! I need to get some soil so I can transplant the starts tomorrow too so running errands with hubs this morning. I’m also soaking a shrub I need to dig out tomorrow or later today so I can move the lemon grass. That stuff exploded, and the clump is huge now. Will be making some Thai curry paste with some of it tomorrow or Monday. The roasting garlic, shallots and ginger make the kitchen smell heavenly! Anyway, time to get busy, have a great day all!
I'm jealous for your lemon trees. I lost 12 citrus trees during the freeze we had this past Feb. The most valued were the 2 Meyer lemons that were about 15 yrs old. We ate off those 2 trees for close to 5 months every year.

Oh no! I’m so sorry, that’s a lot of trees to have lost. Did you replant?
We have a Meyer lemon also, love that little thing! It’s about half the age of those you lost and in dire need of a good trim right now. We had one at a place we rented that was a profuse producer of lemons twice a year, blooming while there were still lemons to pick.

I think I am finally done with the winter garden planting. Finished with the onions yesterday and now the garden is done. 'Most everything is above ground (at least a little bit) and I'm sittin back watchin it grow.
Mrs. Lobos Ube is almost ready to harvest and I have been cutting back the vines slowly in prep for harvest when she says so. Goats are lovin the vegetation from them as they only have grass to eat and will devour any leafy stuff I can throw @ them.

I used to do that too! But I gave away all my supplies when we moved to Alabama where there was no bakeries from home allowed. Everything. Which meant a lot of it had to be repurchased here for smaller jobs.
That is BEAUTIFUL!

Well I picked up two coats from the 50s that were wool. The linings looked ok, but were fragile as was the seam thread. SO I purchased them for the wool contact only, deconstructed them and put up the fabric. I'll make mittens and such with them.
I also was given a grocery sack full of vintage, well stored watermark satins, satin, and brocades. DROOL - for historic clothing, yes please!! Also picked up some clearance sweaters for their cuffs for mittens, and I won't have to knit my own. $1 for a sweater I can't get a skein of yarn for that.
Also a sweater trimmed with cotton crochet lace, which I will put on pantaloons for a 1840s outfit.
Then there was the XL-long suede coat, came apart easily and gave me over a yard of baby butt soft tan suede.
(plus all the buttons harvested, lol)
Forgot - 8 pristine king and queen flat sheets 100% Cotton for 50 cents each! The clothes line was busy today!
I just had to share that with other sewists. LOL. I can't FIND quality wool here, let alone the suede.

We finally got the garlic in. A while 4'x8' raised bed fill of garlic. All hardneck, but no idea what the varieties actually are. I purchased some at the local farm stand, some my MIL face us from a farm stand near her in TN when we visitations in September, and the rest I purchased today at a local store. I still need to get the walking onions in. Hoping that happens tomorrow. It just got too dark and too cold tonight to stay out there with the kids.

Edit to add: I also potted two spider plants yesterday that my sister's neighbor gave me. This two pots filled the last remaining space on my bay window ledge. I need to get a plant stand now. :gig
