What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon all. It’s CHILLY outside! We had rain and a stiff wind overnight, todays high is 58* and it’s still breezy. I’m doing nothing but keep ducks out there today. Daughter brought me sushi for lunch, it hit the spot but now I’m thinking a cup of hot tea and some zombies are in order until dinner which is leftover French onion soup. It’s supposed to warm up over the weekend so I’ll be weeding the carrot patch and such then.

For those of you looking for a daily planner, I was able to get one from Our Daily Bread Ministries. It starts with Sunday, and is currently on sale for $12 (normally $19). It's got an Important Contacts section and a Notes section, too. Here is the link if anyone is interested: Daily Planner

This is the one I got. (no affiliation) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N7TKHC1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
It has a few pages in the front for goal aspirations, then has a monthly calendar with space to fill in the months. Then goes weekly with habit tracker and lots of writing and planning spaces. There is also a financial tracker/record page for each month, and a pocket in the back flap.

I have to have planners/journals for everything. I have one for weekly chores/plans, one for gardening, beekeeping, bird records, and Dairy Cow/Beef Cow info.
I also have a record book for pigs I bought, where they came from, each litter of piglets born/died, and when they are out of service.
I have to write lists for my supplies and groceries too. If I don't, I stress out too much about forgetting something.

That is amazing! I try to keep notes of everything, but let is slide. Will pick it back up in January though.

It's wet out and I don't know why but the cold, just seems so much colder for some reason, IM kind of miserable. I got to move all the sissy plants into the garage tonight because we have frost coming tonight, so there's that, think ill leave them in for a few days since tomorrow is marginal too. Im glad I got my 'auxilliary' solar field out, because when i get in im turning the friggin heat up to 80, I just feel cold to the bone for some reason. Hope im not coming down with the creeping crud. gaah.

Stupid question. I have sweet taters in the ground, plants are not totally died off yet... probably should have been harvested a few weeks ago but ive been busy / lazy, call it what you want. how long can they stay in the ground before you start wrecking them? Im thinking this frost will take em out totally now and I'll have to dig em out but wondering how critical it is to do them NOW!

I end up with piles of notes, from topics from astral physics to how not to stand to keep from having the bird poop on you again..... I also NEED to take notes, I can't say how many times ill be working in the yard and go OOH... I need a thingamajig next time im at the repodepot, or OOH, one of those doo smackeys would work great out here.... get inside, and have a fleeting memory of remembering I was supposed to remember something to write down to get before I forget, if I remember right..... ive taken to recording tidbits on my phone, Aaron, get a garden hoe with 3 tines. Aaron get an ice pick to bust thru the bags, Aaron get a chicken cluck sorter, bla. that way when I get in I play them back and know what I needed to not forget to remember.

cherry, the let it slide. TRUST ME, even if you hate me, trust me on this one thing. the sliding part will NOT get better as we get older :D we just forget that we let it slide is all.

I made a homesteading journal a few years back to record everything pertinent. It is, however, in storage right now and needs to be dug out. Since it has my buttermilk pecan pie recipe in it, it needs to get itself found sooner rather than later, lol.

DH partially filled the empty garden box for me the other day. I need to get it done still. I harvested a small bowl of mizuna and kale over the weekend and we snacked on it while doing other projects. We sat on our butts recovering on Midwinter, and now we're starting to implement a new wakeup schedule. The toddler has been pushing and pushing for an earlier wakeup in the mornings, so now instead of fighting it, we're embracing it.

I am NOT a morning person. Blegh

Zombies, I’ve been watching the Walking Dead

Zombies - The things that come over on the holidays, and without control, faithfully belch out every little tidbit they heard on NPR, Rush, Hannity, CNN, etc etc, at the dinner table, no matter who is sitting there around them. If you agree with them, they will follow you around all day, resonating the echo chamber, if you disagree with them, they will follow you around all day trying to educate you. At this point, chickens make better company.
