What did you do in the garden today?

Hello fellow gardeners! I've been away for a while but now dreaming about my spring garden! I've already ordered some new strawberry and golden raspberry breeds! I'm itching for spring....

Oh yeah... I'm doing a bit of an experiment that has me extremely nervous.... I have a Meyer Lemon that is planted in a large tub. I brought it into my south facing sunroom last winter and it went mega downhill.... Started losing leaves almost immediately and by the time spring rolled around, I thought it was dead. I tried to put it outside a few weeks early in a Hail Mary effort to save it but no bones.... I left it out there all summer because I never got around to cleaning out the tub. Imagine my surprise when it resprouted from the root ball late last summer. It grew pretty quickly and it now already 4 ft tail!

Now my dilemma... I don't want to bring it back inside over the winter because of last year's experience. I'm in Zone 7A. I've read that lemon trees can survive some short dips below freezing. We've already had several nights down in the teens. So far the tree is hanging on... Although it has paled a bit. February is typically our coldest and nastiest month for weather. I'm going to try to leave this tree outside all winter and see what happens?

But it is making me nervous.... I feel a bit like I'm playing Russian Roulette with it....

Yeah, nm. I couldn't take the pressure... I brought it into the sunroom again. I checked it a few days ago and the leaves were a pale green. I checked it again after I posted and most of the leaves have turned yellow. So I broke down and moved it indoors.

ETA - we've had a boatload of rain recently so it could be turning yellow from either too much rain or the cold or both. I'll watch it over the next few weeks and see what happens

Good afternoon gardeners. We’ve made some good progress today on the rabbit habitat. We got the tube pinned down and barriers installed

The big coop will just have some straw on the floor with hay in a pool and a big bowl of water. The trash can is for storing hay

Got the burrow most of the way done

These chairs will get wood “seats” for plants and double as cover/shade. I’m going to paint the black one a different color, for now I’m thinking yellow on the bottom and white on top

The pot there has romaine lettuce in it and I planted some leaf lettuce in the window box and hung it on the fence. Watered the lemon tree early this morning and bought some candytuft. I’ve never grown it before but I like the small white flowers on it. Have a great afternoon all!

Are you and to clean inside the burrow? And the tube?

Speaking of which, has anyone ever ordered from Baker Creek/Rare Seeds?

That’s one order I placed, with Baker creek. But first time for me!

I order from Baker Creek every year. I always get a packet of free seed with my order. I think I've gotten some kind of lettuce the last couple of times.

I ordered some seeds for a friend from BC, and the friend was amazed at how fast they came.
